“Easy walk to everywhere (MB58)”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

We reserved Country&City’s apartment from Via di Monte Brianzo 58 (first floor) just a week before our quick trip as Rome was filling up quite fast of tourists looking for an hotel in our price range. We are usually trying to book something with a little lower price tag (this one about 136EUR/night but in this city in this location it really is not bad) but as we only spent three nights in the city we didn’t want to look too far. Country & City is not actually a hotel but they have several apartments around the city. Their office is right next door at 59 and is normally open from 14:30 to 18:30 or something like that. Be sure to ask for an early check in if you are arriving in the morning.

Our apartment consisted of a living room, a small kitchen, bathroom and the bedroom. Everything seemed to be just renovated or restyled as they were updating pictures as we arrived. The rooms are wonderfully high and seem to have original ceilings. The kitchen is really small but adequate as we didn’t prepare any food. The bed was somehow not very ideal for sleeping. Being an apartment there won’t be a cleaner knocking at your door in the morning and you have to take out your own trash in the end. They say there is a trash sorting on Lungovetere (street running along the Tiber) but we had difficulties finding it.

The apartment is located in the historic renaissance centre of Rome and is in easy walking distance from pretty much anywhere. Termini, Vatican, Trastevere, Colosseum, nothing is really that far and Spanish steps and the historic centre are just outside of the front door at the other end of the same street (different name though). There are plenty of restaurants in the area and our special recommendation goes to Trattoria Lilli at Via di Tor di Nona 23, just a couple of blocks east from the apartment.

The Wi-Fi worked fine at least in the bedroom and the only possible “complain” about the apartment is that as the buses run the street just outside the apartment the whole house seems to be vibrating at times. Nothing that really bothered us but might be important information for some travellers.

We stayed at Via del Canale and it was perfect. Nice accommodation with a lovely balcony close to all the sights of the city. The only complain we had was that there wasn't wifi available, while the booking.com site told us that there was going to be wifi. Even 3G didn't work most of the time while being inside. For the rest, just excellent.

We had a nice experience at Via Monte Brianzo 59. Great location, reception, and room. Located in the heart of Rome, walking distance from all the major sites: Vaticano, Frontana di Trevi, Arco di Constantino, Foro Romano, Coloseo, etc. Around the corner from Piazza Navona to see local artwork and eat at a nice bar or restaurant. There is also a bus stop right across the street and the reception will call you a cab if you need it.

The reception was very nice and helpful. The apartment was large and included a comfortable king size bed. The kitchen was fully equipped for cooking. Considering the location the apartment had very good sound proofing, it was no problem to get a good nights sleep. Overall very pleasant stay.

We stayed in VIA DI MONTE BRIANZO 59, FIRST FLOOR, APT 4. We got the key as advised since we arrived after 6pm. Two flights of stairs, dark til you find the timed switch. Very central, with Piazza Navona a very short walk. We did the 96 hour tour on two days, in 23 degrees, which was perfect. The room is a vaulted, wooden beamed, gallery apartment, with a small, adequate kitchenette, nothing fancy, but fine. The open space on the ground floor is spacious and lovely, with some space and large chest of drawers and wardrobe. There are two fabulous tall windows, opening to the street below, with wooden shutters, and a standalone fan, which we did not need. The staircase to the lovely gallery bedroom and bathroom is also wooden. The bed is large! But could do with a new mattress, but not terrible yet. The bathroom is adequate, with a bidet, bath and shower over. Mind your head if you're over 6 feet tall.

Great location for everything, secure (seriously, the door is fort Knox) accommodation. Look out for cigarette ponses outside.

I would not recommend for a lone female traveller, as it is in a quieter street, and possibly with residents in same building. Very secure once in the main door though, and steps to the main streets.

Spar type shop along the road a bit, and a great restaurant, turn right out of the door, walk for two mins, on the left in Piazza Nicosia. Great seafood.

We have stayed on via s. maria dell anima, near navona square for 5 days. the postition of the hotel is very good, all the sights are in 5-20 minuts on foot. if you want to order a car to\from the airport, to the outlet etc. you will have such an opportunity for a good price. if we go one more time to rome, we will surely stay at this apartment.

As a location it can hardly be beaten as you are within 10 - 15 minutes walking distance from all major attractions (Piazza Navona, Vatican, Piazza di Spagna, Villa borghese etc.) and restaurants. The house was in perfect conditions, very clean and has a small but well equipped kitchen! Although you will not be passing much time in the house it's always good to know that you can go back to relax in a nice apartment with a good view.
