“A lovely hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 October 2011

We stayed three days at the Una Hotel and were very pleased with the accomodation and staff. the room was better than we had expected, the complimentary breakfast was fabulous and the front desk staff very helpful. It was a 5 min. walk from the train station and all the sights were within walking distance. We would stay again without hesitation. They made reservations for us at Trattoria Cecio restaurant which was well priced and wonderful, and only a couple blocks away.

Room Tip: we had a room overlooking the "streetcar" line which was a bit noisy, but not serious enou...

The Una Hotel was very modern and chic. It was very clean, quiet, and offered different pillows for comfort. We did not have a view, but were happy with the room in general and the location of the hotel. It was only 1 block from the train station. Perfect location for easy movement around the city or taking a longer train to other regions. We got in early and the hotel held our bags while we started our sightseeing. Breakfast was one of the best we have had!

This hotel is located practically bang opposite the Rome Termini station- so basically a great spot from where all tour buses start, taxis are readily available and of course Metro and Eurostar connections. However the area is quite dingy and sleazy with very bad tourist trap restuarants nearby so if you stay here make sure you eat elsewhere and be careful walking back at night. We used to walk back as late as 11.30pm but there was very dodgy crowd on the street but we didn’t face any major problems as it was a crowded area and quite well lit.

The Hotel itself is clean and polished with polite front desk staff. They did not have free wi fi but there are cheap internet cafes for this nearby. The room and bathroom are spotlessly clean with soft clean sheets, pillows and towels but the major flaw, and I emphasize this because it does erode all the other pros of this hotel, is the room is so tiny (occupied 95% by the bed) that 2 people cannot move from the bedside to the bathroom! Its so surprising that they did not think of making the bed an inch smaller so that a person can walk properly from the bedside to the bathroom. There is not even space for 2 suitcases, just one and the room is soooo crammed that both people have to sit on top of the bed all the time. Whatever the other benefits of this hotel if you cannot walk from the bedside to the bathroom it really makes you question a second stay there. Having lived and travelled across several countries in Europe I do understand room sizes cant be huge but this was unacceptable for the price you pay to stay here.

Other than this, the breakfast was plenty (Italian) and huge with proper cappuccino and polite staff. The front desks gave us a map, recommended a lovely restaurant for dinner and were rarely rude (common in many European hotels). The toilet was nice and clean with standard toiletries. The room however did not have any tea/coffee makers/ingredients.
To summarize-
Pros- near to Termini, clean, polite staff, good breakfast, soft sheets and towels, toiletries.
Cons- slightly sleazy area, room size, leaky bidet that was not fixed during entire stay in spite of repeated requests.

Room Tip: if you want a quiter room make sure yours is facing away from the street

The hotel was great. Good location and rooms are very modern. Space is a premium and they do a great job with it. The service was top notch, my wife really liked the pillow menu.

Liked:
- Great ambiance & service
- Modern design is top notch
- Sleep quality was incredible. We had a courtyard room which was great --seriously, incredible sleep quality for the middle of downtown

Things to improve:
- Internet access was expensive and didn't work reliably --had to keep signing in; seriously, just make it part of staying at the hotel folks!
- Breakfast was good, service was great. As others said, the eggs were a bit weird but fine.

Can't improve, but be aware of:
- Slim pickings on restaurants in a 2-3 block radius. Walk farther and there are a few more options.
- As others said, the neighborhood between the main station and the hotel is a touch sketchy, but I really didn't find it to be an issue.

We were at Rome for 4 days in September and chose Hotel Una Roma for our stay. I must say we had a very pleasant stay at the hotel.
First of all, the location of the hotel is very good, near to the Termini railway station, only a five minute’s walk.
Front office staffs were very helpful and smiling. On our enquiry; they have also suggested us about the good restaurants in the Rome and the restaurants were really good. During our stay at the hotel on my wife’s Birthday, I ordered for a flower bouquet and a cake for my wife and the hotel did not charge us for the cake. I was really a nice gesture from the hotel.
Breakfast was good with lot of variety on the menu and we started our long day with a full stomach.
Only flipside was the size of the room, we were given a room on the first floor and the room was a bit small. In room amenities was upto the mark very neat and clean, sleep quality was great.

Overall, it was a nice experience staying at Una Roma; I happily recommend this hotel to fellow traveler for enjoyable stay at Rome.

Room Tip: Try to have a glimpse of the room before finally selecting one, some rooms are bit small in this hot...

There is only one negative comment I have about this hotel and it's actually is the flip side of one of its great strengths - location. We loved being a block away from Termini Station, it was really convenient. At the same time, the block between Termini and the hotel resembled skid row. Not the block the hotel is on; that street along with the surrounding ones were very clean and safe. But the actual block leading into Termini had some shady character types hanging about. It wasn't a problem for us but I could see some folks feeling uneasy walking that street at night. As for the hotel, it was really a gem. Beautiful public spaces, beautiful rooms. The convenience to Termini was top notch; and even when we took cabs Termini was a great and easy reference. There are eateries and bars in the streets around the hotel some of which stayed open pretty late - Tomoko Tudino for one. It was in the 90's when we visited Rome and having a clean and modern room was a life saver. Breakfast was very nice but as in most hotels, exactly the same from day to day. We'd definitely stay here again.
