“Eating in Rome for tourists”
Reviewed 16 January 2013

Had a wonderful experience at Opera Ristorante, but probably not the BEST food in Rome. Went with a tour group, and our experience was lovely. Great service and great entertainment. Off season for the opera leaves a lot of good entertainment in restaurants, apparently. Our singers were A-plus. Service was also very good. Food was good enough, but like anything else, you get what you pay for. LIke any city, I'm sure there are a lot of extremely good, expensive restaurants that provide better everything, but for our purposes and the price, it was well worth it. And a fun experience, as well. It feeds the tourist trade admirably.

“Stay away! Poor food, poor service!”
Reviewed 11 October 2012 via mobile

We wound up here as part of a tour package. Chef Boy-R-Dee is better than the food we had. And the service... OMG, we were treated like "red-headed step children!" I'd recommend that you stay away from this place!

“Abysmal”
Reviewed 15 September 2012

We visited here on our first night in Rome because we were desparate and vowed never to chance it like this again. The food was the worst we had in 3 weeks of travelling Italy. My Saltimbocca was as unpleasant to eat as it was to look at and my mother's pizza was badly flavoured with dough crunchy and tough instead of light and crisp. We asked for water which never came and had to ask for the bill 3 times in an almost empty restaurant and still had to get up and follow up the waiters inside. Hopeless service, unappealing food. Do not waste your money here.

“Terrific Food & Entertainment”
Reviewed 19 July 2012

Our first night in Italy was not a disappointment. We went with our tour group as an optional excursion. The food was amazing & the musicians were wonderful. We had a ball!

“Opera isn't for everyone . . .”
Reviewed 17 May 2012

Perhaps if you are part of a large tour group with a booking well in advance, this restaurant may show some life. We arrived to an empty restaurant. The son of the owner was watching cartoons and eating his dinner on a large screen television - but there was no music, no aria, and no tragic plot - other than the one that we had created for ourselves in expecting a great evening with savory food and arias supported by the chorale of the customers . . . While the owner did all she could to accommodate us with good food and good wine (Che bella! Grazie!), it was not enough to push the balance in favor or our return or our recommendation. There are far too many great restaurants in Rome. This opera was not for us.
