“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2013

Stayed here in May 2013 and was rather disappointed when we compare wth our "normal" hotel in Rome, Napoleon (see separate review).
We stayed in the junior suite. Pro: Good size, only room at this floor, large balcony. Con: balcony was not cleaned on two of three days, When you left the room all electricity was turned off meaning that you could not chrage your Ipad etc. while you were away.
Breakfast: Pro: Good coffee. Con: Breakfast room situated in the cellar so no windows. Staff was not present in the room but come "on and off" meaning that you could wait up to 10 minutes for a cup of coffee. The choice of bread and cold cut was rather limited.
Also one morning we were looking for the staff at the reception as our key card was not working - no one there and we could not find anyone elsewhere. Result - we waited for 10 - 15 minutes to go into our room.
At last - be aware of the distance to the city center. As other says there is only one bus in the area and walking to f.e. Piazza del Popolo take app. 40 minutes!
So - no we would not return to this hotel.

After looking at the great reviews we decide to book the Villa Duse for our 30th Wedding Anniverrsary and it met all our exspectations. We have stayed in larger hotels but Villa Duse has changed. Our room was aPrestige park room with its own terrace garden it was fabulous, after a long day it was nice to come back to the peace and quiet and sip prosseco on our terrace has the sun went down. Villa Borghese park is with easy walking and when you get out the otherside you are more or less at the Spanish steps. use the buses 360 just round the corner takes you to the Termini and tram 19 caught at the Piazza Ungheria take you straight to the vatican alot of people say its a long walk but take your time and walk its lovely.
Elanora who runs the Hotel is fantastic nothing is too much trouble just ask. Also the other reception staff are excellent thanks to Victorian too the breakfast staff and cleaning staff all do there bit to make the Hotel it is. The rooms are all firnished with antique perios furniture and although is a 4 Star because of the attention to detail i would class it has a 5 star.Try the Restaurants reccommended by Eleanora but we like the Rossini Taverna the best. Maps are given and routes to the spots you wwant to see are given by reception we never got lost once.
Thanks again Eleanora and staff for making our 30th Wedding annivessary trip one we shall look back on with joy. We will be back to try the restaurant you are planning hope it all goes to plan. If its peace & quiet after the hustle and bustle of Rome this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: All rooms at the Villa Duse are to the same high standard I would reccomend a room with a garden ter...

Stayed at this lovely boutique hotel last week. We arrived after a very long flight from Hong Kong to find one of our bags was lost. The staff were amazing helping us with many calls and emails to track our bag as we only had one day in rome before our next destination. With their help we found our bag and can enjoy the rest of our holiday.

On top of the good service the rooms were lovely and breakfast was a feast. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at hotel villa duse for 3 nights. We did a lot of research for a hotel before we went to Rome and after hearing great reviews we had to stay here. I couldn't fault the hotel. We stayed in the prestige classic room which was gorgeous. Comfy bed, lovely bathroom, sky tv and air con (which was needed after all of the walking in rome! ) the location was lovely. We were about a 20 minute drive from the city centre and it is only a short walk to the bus and the tram. Thoroughly recommend this hotel. Some gorgeous restaurants around the area aswell. Thank you to the staff at hotel villa duse, they provided great service and were really helpful at giving us directions and a map into the city centre and restaurants to go to etc. They couldn't have made our trip any better! !!!

we have recently come back from staying 4 days in Rome and we stayed in the Villa Duse. The staff couldn't have been more helpful not only during our stay but also before we'd arrived and we were making arrangements for our trip. The room was large and beautifully decorated, the breakfast was yummy and plenty of it. The area is quiet and a short walk from buses and trams. Beware, the buses seem to come back on the hour and as the times aren't specified we waited twice, once for the 360 and once for the 52 for nearly an hour trying to get back! The tram is more reliable but more restricted in where you can go to on it. There is a very pleasant outdoor seating area where we enjoyed several glasses of wine and prosecco and nibbles enjoying the late summer heat of the evening. If I return to Rome I would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: we had the executive room which was the last available but this was quite spacious. No bath but the...

I booked this hotel because it was advertised as a nice retreat after spending all day out seeing the sights and it very much lived up to that billing. It's in the Northern part of the city, so if you want something centrally located, this isn't it. But if you want to end your day in a beautiful neighborhood in a more residential setting, surrounded by great restaurants filled with locals, this is for you.

The hotel is also quite lovely. While having a historic feel, everything has been updated in a very smart way. You'll find some beautiful contemporary art on the walls, and very nice furnishings throughout.

What really makes the place stand out is the incredibly attentive staff. They were more than happy to recommend restaurants, call cabs or give other advice about getting around, make reservations, or just answer questions about the way things are done in Rome.

While not cheap, given the quality of the experience, it was a good value. When we return to Rome again, this will certainly be our hotel of choice.

We had a lovely short stay in the Red Suite before our cruise.
The room was comfortable well situated with a nice balcony and clean.

We have visited all of the sights in Rome many times so didn't mind the location, although we still went to the Trevi (just has to be done!)

There are some good Restaurants a short walk away, the Gardens are beautiful and worth a visit.

The Staff at the Villa Duse were helpful and friendly, we can recommend this charming Boutique Hotel.

Room Tip: Go for a Suite
