Starting at Spanish Steps, the guide, Stephano, took us on a fascinating tour around many of the major landmarks and sights in the nearby area. The tour was delivered in excellent English in a bright and enthusiastic way with just the right balance of fact and humour. There is no way that one would have ever been able to spot many of the features of the tour without extensive prior research. At a gentle pace, the tour covered just under 4km in 2 hrs. The tour included going inside a few churches that required quiet, dignified respect for those praying and the content was more suited to teenagers and above rather than the very young, and more energetic young children. However, it the tour is mostly outside, and in November warm clothing was essential. Nonetheless, an excellent free tour and highly recommended. Stephano only asks you to tip as you see appropriate at the end of the tour. Half of the money raised going to a childrens' charity. Bathroom stops are not planned in the tour and there are a few steps entering and exiting some of the churches.

What can I say... not to be missed! Flaminia our guide was a proud daughter of Rome who gave an excellent 'off the beaten track' tour of the city including not only all the important places en route, but so many that no other 'official' tour will show you. I loved the fact that Flaminia helped us to identify the good places to eat, the prices we should be paying for everything from an espresso to a meal in a hide-away restaurant. Perfect! Please tip this guide well. As someone who has worked in the travel industry for two decades I can tell you that this guide (and from what I read below, all the guides) deserve respectful acknowledgement.

We started at Piazza Spagna. We visited a couple of churches that you don't see alone or in ohters tours. Our guide tour was Isabella, she was lovely, a truly roman woman who shared with us all her knowledge of her city. This is really am awsome tour!

A mid-October free walking tour from Spanish Steps to Trevi Fountain. It was easy meeting our guide Stefano at 5:30 pm, and we thought he was excellent for the full 2 1/2 hours. He spoke English well and used a small microphone so there were no problems hearing him in the crowd/traffic. He had an excellent sense of humour, and was very informative - he clearly cared about his city. He wove a theme for the tour around "bumblebees", which I won't spoil by explaining. We liked the idea of beginning in the early evening, because as the evening progressed the lights of the City came on, changing the look completely, and ending at the spectacular show of Trevi Fountain was perfect.

We did this tour on our first afternnon in Rome and it was the perfect start to a wonderful trip. Our guide Flaminia was so friendly and helpful and her information and recommendations were spot-on. The tour lasted for 2 hours and we saw so many things, but the pace was always quite relaxed and there were plenty of opportunities to take photos or ask questions. It was so nice to see the city through the eyes of a local. This tour is a must-do inRome ! Satisfaction guaranteed.
