I highly recommend New Free Rome Tour. Marco provided excellent pre trip advice. After carefully reviewing many companies I chose their services because of their educated tour guides, fair pricing and prompt responses. Vito was our assigned tour guide and he was excellent! He met me, my husband and our 15 year old daughter at a designated spot near the Colosseum Metro. From there he whisked us in front of at least a three hour Colosseum line and thoroughly showed us the tunnels, lower level and recently opened upper level. I do not know how he did it but we never had to wait once! He knew the best views and told us the history in a fun story like manner that our 15 year old loved! Vito is an educated historian who knew more than we ever could have imagined! Our private tour then continued on to the Arch of Titus and the Forum. Once again, it was very crowded, but Vito had our tickets in advance and we never waited a moment and saw all! I also appreciate that Vito did not rush us as we had arrived in Rome that morning and were a bit tired and slow. Also, New Free Rome Tours driver services were prompt, reasonably priced, clean and pleasant. New Free Rome Tour arranged for a car service to take us to our cruise terminal in Civitavecchia and the airport. When our flight was delayed, rather than waiting at the airport, our driver called Vito and we arranged, for a reasonable fee, to be driven to the Jewish Ghetto and Trastavere before going to the airport. I would absolutely use New Free Rome Tour again!

Between the free walking tour and Rick Steves free iPod downloads for self tours, you can't go wrong. Guides were knowledgeable and friendly, but don't forget to save a few Euros for a tip!

We have done many free walking tours throughout Europe with mostly great experiences. After reading the reviews of this "Rome New Free Walking Tour" we were expecting a similar experience. Our guide Stefano was relatively outgoing and willing to joke with the group though kept poking fun at his own customers (more than just a jovial ribbing) and often condescending their responses to his questions.

After the first hour of the tour, Stefano led our group a whopping two blocks off of the Spanish Steps while stopping every few steps to explain something that wasn't of the greatest importance to us. We ended up leaving the tour just shy of one hour as our guide led our entire group through a church which was actively participating in Mass, which seemed inappropriate to us.

Our experience certainly seems to be the exception when comparing it to the other reviews, though we felt our experience needed to be shared.

You should attend this tour on the first day when u arrive in rome as the tour would give u an overview of where to visit for the rest of your time spent in rome. We reached rome at about 430pm and managed to join the tour that starts at 530pm at the Spanish steps. Our guide is Andrea who is very knowledgeable and passionate about Rome. He can speak well in English. After the tour, you can throw him questions about where to eat or where to visit in rome. He would be glad to be of assistance! This tour is free and highly recommended !
