I am lucky enough to have sampled quite a few hotels in Rome so I am glad to say that the little Hotel Enrica punches well above its weight for quality and value for money.
Location: Location is close enough to Termini station to catch all Trains, Metro, Buses etc to access the city and the Airport Transfers. Despite being so well located for transport, it is not noisy, and you don't get the unsavoury characters which hang around other parts of Termini. Meaning this place is pretty much perfectly located for its price range.
Rooms: The rooms are simple, tasteful, very clean and practical. Beds are very comfortable and nice and warm in the winter, though I did notice brand new Air-conditioning units in all the rooms. A HUGE bonus for a Roman summer, especially when so many of Rome's hotels do so badly at this. Guests should note that the en suite bathrooms are 'wet rooms' but this doesn't stop them being some of the best functioning bathrooms I've ever used in Rome. Though the bed was warm, the rooms are a little cold. This is simply a characteristic of Roman buildings from this date, as well as the extremely high ceilings and lovely huge windows. I personally think a jumper is worth the well sized and bright room.
Service and Character: I always put these two together for Rome because when you visit Italy, it's all about charm. Service is brilliant. The owners are extremely friendly, helpful and certainly up for a laugh. Great for directions and tips, you get to stay with a true Roman family here. Many of Rome's hotels are no longer filled with Italians. This doesn't bother me, but it does take away just a little of that Roman magic. So I say hotel Enrica gets full marks on both accounts.
Breakfast: a typical Italian drinks machine dispenses 50cent drinks 24 hours a day in the lobby and is great for a quick pick me up. Discounts are offered for local restaurants and breakfast is provided by a very Roman cafe just around the corner. A fresh croissant and drink of your choice. I loved this, because it is how the Italians take their breakfast rather than hopping up to poorly stocked buffet.
Value: Very good value for money, I would highly recommend this hotel for the budget concious or just those wanting a real taste of Roman hospitality.
