“Lovely and private; a beautiful hotel”
Reviewed 23 May 2011

We stayed 4 nights at La Maison Dell Orologio. Our Rome Cab took us directly there from the airport. Fabrizio was waiting for us and check-in was
easy. There are three rooms and we had Rm. #1. It is a large room nicely decorated and somewhat spare. The bathroom looked attractive and modern. The free wi-fi in the room worked great. Breakfast was the best I had in Italy at the various hotels I stayed. There were a number of yummy pastry/croissant type options. There were also plain rolls. There were an assortment of meats and cheeses. There was usually a fresh fruit salad. Michelle was the staff person that handled breakfast and she did a lovely job. She brought us coffee, tea, and/or hot chocolate anyway we liked it. The location of the hotel is great and it is in a nice part of town. It feels very private there. We rarely saw other guests or staff. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to stay there again.

Room Tip: Room #1 was great, but I think all of them are.

We really felt that our stay here was truly special. The small, quaint style of the B&B really makes you feel that you are living in your very own Roman apartment.
This B&B is small but perfect. We were greeted by the owner Fabrizio, who gave us a wealth of local information and some handy restaurant recommendations. Our room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean; the bathroom was small but modern and well-stocked with toiletries and towels.
Fabrizio's attention to detail with the rooms, breakfast and decor is fabulous - small touches like a stand of umbrellas near the door for guests' use, a bowl of sweets in the entrance hall, and even a mimi-bar in the room make La Maison dell'Orologio absolutely perfect. It even smelled lovely! We heard some noise from the street early in the mornings, but that wasn't a problem for us - who wants to have a lie in when you have the whole of Rome to explore?!
Breakfast was served in a small dining area in the centre of the B&B and consisted of delicious cheeses, meats, yoghurt, juices, fruit, a wide variety of breads and pastries, plus delicious home-made tarts and large servings of delicious coffee.
The B&B is in an excellent location, 10 minutes walk from the Vatican in one direction, 10 minutes to the Pantheon in the other. It is situated on a safe residential street in an apartment block.
I would recommend this B&B to couples who are looking for a romantic get-away in a great location, for a very reasonable price.

What a terrific place to stay in Rome! Just 5 minutes from Piazza Navona, 5 minutes from Castel Sant' Angelo, 2 minutes from taxi and bus service. The location on a relatively quiet street with nice restaurants, cute shops and a wonderful wine bar couldn't be more perfect. The Maison is clean, modern and beautifully decorated with antiques. Michele and Fabrizio are warm and welcoming, and the breakfast is delicious and plentiful. One suggestion - book the car service from the airport as the B& can be a bit difficult to find on your own.

We stayed at this b and b for 2 nights in June 2010. It is a charming place and you couldn't have nicer hosts. the room was lovely (I think we stayed in the largest room of 3) the breakfast was fabulous and plentiful. Michelle was a wonderful host, even organised a taxi for us on our last day and kept an eye out to make sure it came. Location - a nice area and very handy to Piazza Navona and Campo di Fiore.

My husband and I stayed at La Maison dell'Orologio during part of our honeymoon and had a marvelous time. The B&B was charming, beautifully decorated (with a rustic Italian style), clean, new and quiet. Michelle (staff) was also very friendly and accommodating (she made us espressos and cappuccinos every morning, and let us borrow her plug adaptor when ours did not work!). Breakfast was so much more than I expected - yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries, a platter of cured meats and cheeses, cereals, coffee, juice, nutella, etc. The bathroom was modern and very clean. The B&B also had good security, and offered a computer with internet access in the front lobby. The location was excellent - right around the corner from the Castel San Angelo, and very close to St. Peter's to the West, and Piazza Navona and the Pantheon to the East. I will be staying here on my next trip to Rome!

Our 4-day stay at La Maison dell'Orologio was excellent. The place is exceedingly clean, up-to-date, and charming enough. The people in charge are very friendly, helpful, accomodating, and obviously take pride in this facility. Continental breakfast was plentiful and good - no cutting corners. The location, within 5 minutes of Castel Sant'Angelo and a matter of minutes of other significant attractions, is hard to beat. I don't know about other B&Bs in Rome, but I am inclined to believe that La Maison dell'Orologio may be a cut above the rest and I recommend it without hesitation. Well done.

We can't say enough about our recent trip to Rome and La Maison dell'Orologio was a big part of the fun. Location...wow. Within approx. 10 -20 minutes walk of absolutely every significant historical sight in Rome and only 5-8 minutes from the Vatican, what more could you want? The hotel itself is quaint, Fabrizio and Michelle the absolute perfect hosts, ready with advise for your day trip, tips on where to get the most authentic Roman food and ready to let you know just what tourist "traps" are a waste of time and Euro. The rooms are spacious, especially by European standards, well equiped and most importantly clean. Breakfast, served with grace by Michelle, is light but has all the components you need to start your day.
The only negative we have is something that one must expect when staying in the heart of the city...was the noise at night. Rome is a fun, lively city that only seems to sleep a couple of hours. Take ear plugs and have a glass or two of wine before bed and you will sleep well.
Eating....lots, everywhere. Go with Fabrizio's suggestions, but make sure you visit El Fico. Skip Cul de Sac....over rated in the travel books in our opinion.
Enjoy Rome, we sure did.
