“Quick and Easy Way Into Rome”
Reviewed 2 April 2014

The Leonard Express was 14 euros each way. Get the tickets from the machines not the agency desks as they will charge an additional fee. The machines have various language translations and a really easy process to follow and you can pay using cash or card. The train leaves every 30 minutes and is non-stop straight into Rome. The trip took about 30 minutes. The train was clean and comfortable. Make sure that you validate your ticket before you get on the train. As you go through the gates onto the train platform there will be a machine to slide your ticket into and that will validate the ticket. On the way back to the airport please note that the departure board will not display a platform number, walk towards the platforms where the trains arrive and you will then see the sign to direct you to the Leonard Express platform.

“So much easier, cheaper than you might think”
Reviewed 23 March 2014 via mobile

On arrival we took a shared taxi (due to late arrival) this took over an hour to get to hotel, so we scoped out the train to return to the airport. The train between the termini station and airport is an easy way to travel to or from Rome. 30 minutes, 14€ and your directly in the airport, it's well signposted at both ends of the journey and it's a reasonable priced option. Some trains seem busier than others but that's true on all trains. Just remember buy your tickets in the station (self service terminals have an English option) and then validate ticket on platform (little boxes on the platform). Watch out for 'help' from people who will offer to help you buy tickets or validate tickets, all of which are easy enough as they want money.

“Bad, worst, Trenitalia - Never ever again!!!”
Reviewed 31 January 2014

On 31.01.14 we took the train from Termini at 13:20pm. After 25 minutes the train stopped in the middle of nowhere and we were waiting for about 10 minutes. Then we were told that we will continue our journey in 20 minutes. After the next 30 minutes we were told that it will go on. After one hour of standing the train went to the next station (not the airport) and we were told, that we have to leave the train and a bus will bring us to the airport. All passengers went to a busstop, but there were no bus coming. Everybody tried to get a taxi or a car to the airport. To few taxis to much people. After about one hour we could stop a private car and the driver took us and two men to the airport. A half of the people that were in the train, were still waiting for a transportation.
I thought that the train will be the most reliable transportation. I was horrible wrong. A lot of people missed their planes. We were lucky because of the rain, we decided to go earlier to the airport an we could catch our plane.

“Cheap and fast way to get into town from the airport.”
Reviewed 16 January 2014

There are slightly cheaper ways of getting into town from the airport, but they take a long time. This takes about 30 minutes and only costs a few euro more. It also drops you off very centrally.

“Validate or face 50 eu. extortion fine! Sanctioned ripoff if not careful”
Reviewed 1 January 2014

In going into Rome, validation was easy and gates ensured that you don't forget. On the return, there are no signs indicating that validation is necessary, the ticket machine lets you pick a time for travel (which doesn't show up on the ticket, by the way), with no indication that validation is needed. We didn't see a validation machine anywhere, there was no indication in getting the ticket that it needed to be validated (see small print on the back of the ticket), and no lenience on the part of train ticket collectors. My wife and I, as well as two other pairs of people, were all caught at the end with no validated tickets and extorted for 50 eu. and threats of higher fines if not paid immediately. If you use the Leonardo Express, be sure to validate the ticket or face cold hearted ticket people who face karma soon. Bad taste ending to an overall good trip.
