It's always full of locals - morning, day time, evening. There were difficult to find space - not table outside ( no chance at all ) - a place to stand and peacefully to eat portion.

“Excellent for breakfast and more”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

We spent 5 nights at Mercure Piazza Bologna, which is just around the corner. As the breakfast at the hotel was expensive, we went to find a place to start the day Italian style. We came back to this little cafe every morning and even bought some to take with us, as a snack while in the city. We didn't go there later than midday, but we saw it was still open late at night.
They have all sorts of pastries filled with aubergines, ham, tomatoes, cheese, sweet cheese etc. I really enjoyed the ricotta cannoli and my husband favoured the arrancini, which have different fillings. For around €7 we always had few pastries and cappuccino (a cappuccino is €1; they are small cups, not mug type like in UK).
The only problem seemed to be finding a table, (there are only 6 outside) as it was always busy with locals that eat in or take produce away. The staff are helpful and friendly. I haven't been to Sicily, but if that's how their food is supposed to taste, I'd go there now.

“Delicious and cheap desserts and gelato”
Reviewed 10 August 2013

This place seemed to be popular for locals. Every evening it was always full of people. We came here mostly in the mornings for breakfast. We tried their fruit tart, pistachio cannoli, and pistachio paste di mandorle. All of them were delicious. We also got pistachio and strawberry gelato, which were also great. We came one evening to try their sausage bun and arancini, (deep fried balls, inside was rice, meat, cheese, and tomato sauce). I didn't like both, but my husband seemed to enjoy them. The price of their items were cheap. I would definitely come back for their pistachio desserts and gelato.

Reviewed 6 August 2013

I had a half calzone, half pizza (not sure what they are called) and it was absolutely delectable. It was very authentic, and the area is nice. Warning, do not have gelatto, at the place next door (not mizzica - it's on the corner, it was the worst gelatto experience!)
