The Hotel doesn't lack anything in comparison to a 5 star hotel other than its location. The rooms are newly refurbished, flat screen TV, bathtub with Jacuzzi and a huge double bed. The breakfast is also excellent with a variety of choices. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the price is fairly reasonable for the hotel facilities. The only downside is its location, you need 20-25 minutes to get to the main attractions by bus. The good thing is that the bus stop is across the street from the hotel and if you use Google maps it's very easy to navigate through the bus routes, it should be noted that most buses are packed (you need to purchase a ticket before hand from a newspaper shop and validate it on the bus).

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the courtyard since on the other side there's a bit of noise due to the ra...

We found the room lovely with a huge bed and a stunning bathroom. At first I was very concerned as we were booked next to a busy road which was adjacent to a train track! However the double glazed windows were more than adequate to keep the noise out at night. The only negative on the room is the window covering. The curtains are not big enough to cover the entire window space leaving gaps where light filtered through during the night. Luckily we were so tired every day after walking kilometers in Rome that it hardly bothered us.

There is a train station conveniently located across the road that takes you to the Central Station from where you can get anywhere but I will NOT recommend that anyone with walking difficulties arrive via the train with there luggage as their is a very steep bridge to maneuver.

The Roma Aeterna as a hotel is really good. It has a gym, a fair restaurant, newly furbished rooms with flatscreen TV's and pretty much everything else you need for a place where you relax after a long day in museums etc. Price level is quite correct and paying a bit extra you can enjoy a good breakfast buffet in the mornings. On one side of the hotel there is a railway track, so ask for a quiet room. On the opposite side there is a lovely little side street with a lot of local activities: a market every morning, small shops and in the evening many nice restaurants.

The downside of the hotel is the location: it takes you about 30-40 minutes by bus to reach the Roman main sights. The bus stop is just next to the hotel, but buses are usually a bit overcrowded. There is a possibility to take a tram to Termini and from there a metro as well. The city of Rome is right now building up the third metro line, which comes to a few hundred meters away from the hotel, but it will still take years to complete.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room, if you have sleeping difficulties.

This is a lovely hotel. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and a good size. The hotel is located a small bit out from the center of Rome but is still within easy walk (via the Colosseum). It is also ten minutes from the metro and there is a bus stop outside the hotel. One downside would be the restaurant which did not have the greatest of food. There are much better offerings in Rome for a better price when it comes to food. That said the staff in the restaurant were extremely friendly and helpful.

Having read some of the reviews of this hotel in Tripadvisor, i was feeling quite apprehensive on what to expect........fear not! This hotel is SUPERB.
Let's deal with the location issue reviewed. Even though there is no Metro station on the doorstep, there doesnt need to be! There's a bus stop within 10 secs away from the hotel serviced by various buses. Bus 105 is about 10 mins away from the main central train station (Roma Termini) and Bus 81 takes you around all the main tourist hot spots. These buses run until midnight so they were easy to take even at night.
So, the area does look a bit shabby but no less than what you'll find in Rome elsewhere. In fact, we thought the area was lovely. There's a really friendly cafe and a few shops across the street. At the back of the hotel, during the day its a street market while in the evening it turns into cheap trendy bars and places to eat.
As for the hotel, it clearly is a well deserved 4* hotel. Our room cannot be described as no less than excellent. We had a lovely balcony with a sun lounger to sunbathe, we also had a whirlpool bath (believe me after walking round Rome, you'll need it!), flat screen TV and free WiFi. My only criticism is that we expected a king size bed and what we had was 2 single beds pushed together. I know most hotels do this but it is a pet hate of mine! We also didnt have tea/coffee making facilities which would have been nice to have but not essential.
All in all, this is a great place worth its money in Rome!

Really good hotel with fantastic facilities. The location was reasonably close to San Giovanni metro station (15 min walk) or you could catch the number 81 bus right outside the hotel which would take you straight to the station. The reason for giving 4 stars is the distance from the centre and the fact that you can feel the vibration when a train goes past, but this does stop at night. Overall i would definitely recommend this hotel. The breakfast buffet had a good variety, and the evening meal (if you go half board) was a fantastic 3 course meal with a different menu every day.

Room Tip: A double room is a decent size and the bath has a Jacuzzi.
