“Clean & Modern”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2012 via mobile

This is a very clean and modern hotel. The breakfast is quite good for €10 each. Staff are very helpful. In a really good location. Hotel room is not big but bigger enough. Would stay here again.

As a personal trip, we stayed here for 3 nights in June 2012. We stayed in room 416 that had a large bed and balcony. The property is built for function, and it does a great job in delivering. When we come back to Budapest we will absolutely look here first. As usual, the Good, the OK, and the Bad.

The Good
- Car service from airport. On-time waiting for us with sign. We took the round trip for €99 and thought it was worth it. Both cars were comfortable, the drivers polite, and their driving was safe, if not a bit madness as expected in Rome.
- Check-in. <5 minutes. With a smile. Excellent. The front desk was real friendly throughout and offered us a local restaurant one evening that was superb. I cannot recall the name, but it started with a "B" and was a short walk. Well done front desk. I will complete a review of the restaurant when I recall the name.
- Room. Solid and basic. Nice sized bathroom will all needs covered. The air conditioning could not have been colder (too cold for the better half). The bed was firm and there was an extra pillow (and blanket) in the closet. There was also a safe in the closet, as well as an empty refrigerator - that we used to store well-needed bottles of water.
- breakfast. The €10 each we spent on breakfast was he best investment across our stay. Fruit, breads, cheeses, eggs, sweets, etc. Well worth it and appreciated. You can sit outside on the rooftop and enjoy your morning.
- Rooftop deck and vending machines. A great idea and well executed by iQ. With a series of chairs and couches, you can lounge on the rooftop 24x7. There are vending machines there that offer very affordable beer, wine, drinks, some food, etc. We spent our late evenings unwinding up there and enjoyed the fresh air.
- Solid location. Is it in the dead heart of the city? No. But it's close enough to walk to center, and sits in a nice neighborhood with shops of all types.

The OK
- WiFi service was spotty at best. Yes, it is free but quite slow at times, or simply just didn't engage. If you are 100% reliant upon the hotel WiFi, you may want to plan a back up plan.

The Bad
- Nothing, and nothing close

I highly recommend the iQ for overall value and experience. Do not expect the comfort and amenities of a Four Seasons, but it's solid and comfortable. The rooftop deck and vending machines showed me that the designers were thoughtful in their experience approach. They cold have offered a full-service (and expensive) bar. Instead, the offered a great space with affordable solutions in the bring our own terms. Well done.

Thank you IQ Hotel!

We are a couple in our late twenty's and have just returned from our 3 night stay at the IQ Roma. Apart from absolutely loving Rome, we cannot recommend this hotel enough and have already told all our friends and family about it.

Early check in was not a problem and the staff at reception were very polite and friendly, and gave us very good recommendations for restaurants and travel in the local area. They recommended a restaurant around the corner off Via Nazionale, called 'Berzitello' on Via delle Quattro Fontane. This place was small, traditional, full of locals, and really good value for money at around 60 euros with wine-try the Fettucine with Lamb sauce (delicious).

The rooms were spacious and modern, lovely and clean, come with a big bathroom, and good aircon system (very important in 35 degrees). The rooftop terrace was great to relax on with a nice cool drink from the vending machines. The laundry room was very useful for ironing those crumpled up clothes.

The breakfast was ok, could be improved but hey its Italy so you dont go expecting a Full English. There was fresh fruit, cold meats and cheeses, yoghurts, coffee and also bacon and egg although they need to get some better bread for toast.

The location is what really makes this hotel a winner, lots of lovely restaurants and bars around, close to both the Termini and Republicca metro stops so you can get around easily. We were thinking about getting the hop on hop off bus but glad we saved our money and instead got the metro everywhere, get a ticket for 6 euros which gives you unlimited travel for 24 hours, and you can go to the Vatican, Colosseum, Trevi fountain very easily and quickly.

In summary if in Rome and you are looking for a good basic modern hotel with an excellent location don't hesitate to book, we will definitely be back if we find ourselves in Rome again.

I stayed here with my husband for five days to meet with family also on vacation in Rome. My daughter had chosen this hotel and we loved it. It is in a terrific central location next to the Opera which worried me in case it would be noisy but no problem with noise at all. We have stayed in Rome three times previously and this was without doubt the best experience ever. The hotel was gorgeous, modern, beautifully clean and with smiling, efficient, helpful staff. There was a lovely large roof terrace with big comfortable sofas and chairs also plenty of tables and chairs for relaxed snacking or drinking. The concept of the hotel which provided vending machines for drinks, snacks, coffees and a hot water dispenser was just unique and very much appreciated. Although we didn't choose to have breakfast since we prefer just tea in the morning, my fellow travellers did have the large and extensive breakfast which they loved. The location was brilliant for getting around on the buses, trams and metro and also very close to the main train station with the express link to the airport. Overall a terrific hotel and would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed fine as we were on the third floor and our daughter was on the first and neithe...

We had a 4 night stay at this hotel and really enjoyed the convenience of iQ. The hotel location is very central - Centri Termini is a short 3 minute walk, Via Nationale is on the next corner, Piazza Republica is around the corner, loads of restaurants located everywhere, and most of the major attractions are definately within walking distance. Our room was clean, modern and, whilst not a huge room, plenty large enough for our needs. The gym and spa area on the 2nd floor is well equiped and I particularly liked that they do not have a stocked minibar. There are vending machines located on most floors for you to purchase anything that you need - at the normal shop prices (not the hotel inflated prices). It also saves on those annoying bar charges added to your bill on checkout. There is still a bar fridge in the room which you can fill with your own stuff. Good thinking! Breakfast was very reasonably priced (10 euro/person) and had plenty of variety. Staff are very helpful and accommodating. Would definately stay here again - great value for money.

Although navigating the streets of Rome was difficult at first, once we found the hotel, we didn't have any trouble finding and orienting ourselves after. Unlike many hotels in Italy, with just a sign posted outdoors and the number of stars they earned, iQ is inviting and always has front desk attendants in sight and ready to assist you. The rooms are decent sized and have large window doors facing the street or the courtyard. If not for the chain that's connected to each door, you can walk right out of your room and plumet to the street level.

Breakfast wasn't included in our hotel reservation, so it cost 10 euros per person if you chose in the morning. It was worth it for us to start off with a meal from the comfort of our hotel. One of the better aspects was having a coffee machine to use, so I didn't feel bad having to order three cappuccinos.

The vending machines provide cheap drinks (soda, water, wine, beer) and some snacks. And you can take these snacks on the rooftop terrace during all hours for your enjoyment.

Before our stay, I was impressed with their responsiveness in helping me make dinner reservations at a few places.

My only complaint was the wifi which requires a username and password for each device and is given by the front desk. It seems like you have to re-login each time you come back from standby or if you leave the room and come back. A small inconvenience, I know, and why they still deserve an Excellent review.

Room Tip: Rooms facing street can be noisy
