After arriving in Rome late at night and being locked out of the B&B we had booked, my partner and I stumbled across iQ Hotel Roma and were delighted with our stay!

Firstly, the hotel staff were exceptional. When they saw the distressed look on our faces they upgraded us to a huge suite equipt with a king bed, a single bed, day bed/couch and seriously the bathroom had 3 showers!

Secondly, this very smart hotel has some really unique features. 24hr vending machines which sell just about anything you would need. There is even a fully stocked alcohol machine. All of which you can enjoy on a rooftop retreat (enclosed with clear blinds in the cooler months) or back in your room. There were also laundry facilities, a gym, coffee, bar, etc.

This hotel is also quite possibly the only CLEAN modern hotel in Rome, well the only one we came across for the price. Also I am quite the bad sleeper and always scour trip advisor in hopes to improve my sleep quality while on holiday. The beds were very comfortable, not too hard not too soft. In fact, I prefer them over my own bed at home. They are a type of foam mattress though, but nothing chatty and thin. Also the rooms were soundproofed which I've found very important in busy European cities.

To put a cherry on top of this lovely hotel, the location is brilliant for first time visitors to Rome. Within walking distance to the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and right near the central Termini Station (we walked with our luggage) and were able to easily get to places like The Vatican, St Paul's Cathedral.

Let's focus on the +ve first.

The room my hubby and I paid for was really spacious and clean. The toilet was great.
I loved most was their breakfast!
Weird, but only their female staff were all smiles and friendly which made our 1 night stay more welcoming.

We used chauffeur and taxi during the 2 days so cannot comment much on the distance to the places of attractions. But it is definitely short distances to some eating places.

Negativity:
1) After 5h of driving us around Rome, our driver went in and asked the hotel staff if there was any porter to help us with our luggage. He was informed quite bluntly that they did not have.

2) this hotel doesn't furnish any electrical kettle in the room. If you want hot water for drinking tea to making baby food, u better make sure u have your own glass or cup to contain the hot water. This hotel apparently expects u to pour hot water using PLASTIC cup or mineral bottle.

3) we were jet lagged and slept through dinnertime. At 9pm we asked the staff for recommendation nearby. Berzitto. The thing is, on the way to berzitto, there were a few restaurants which were still opened and were much nearer to the hotel (and food tasted way better than berzitto when we tried one of them for lunch the next day). Surprise surprise... the waitress at berzitto happened to work at iq roma hotel too!

As we were checking out the next day at noon, again the hotel staff recommended the same restaurant to another couple.

This restaurant iq roma recommended definitely not worth your time going. There are better ones nearby.

If you are not particular about gd service with basic facilities and amenities, I guess this hotel fits. But I truly believe with another €30-50 more, I can enjoy better hotel.

Dear Sirs,

We are sorry to learn that your only night stay in our establishment was not exactly what you had expected.

iQ Hotel Roma is a modern hotel with an exceptional concept compared to other 4 star hotels in Rome. We offer quality rooms matched with high standard service. We are pleased to understand that the room to which you were upgraded to, was of your liking and that you have enjoyed our buffet breakfast. All our staff is chosen for its professionalism, therefore we are surprised to understand that you found that only our female staff was smiling and attentive to your needs. We are truly sorry if you received this impression from your one night stay with us. We are always considerate of our Guests’ business and we try in all possible ways to show this.

Moreover, as well described on our selling website, and according to our concept, we are focused on providing the best service without the need for our Guests to pay more than what they will be actually using. This concept is extended as well to the in-room facilities. As such, we have chosen to offer and empty minibar for our Guests to feel in as they please and not provide a kettle which not all Guests would use and would in any case have to pay as part of the room rate. Instead, we prefer to still give the possibility to have hot water provided for drinks with a free machine available 24h a day. As for the cups sold at reception, it is true that these are made of plastic; however the water temperature of the machine has been regulated so that these can be used for tea and coffee with absolutely no problem.

As for the porters, and again as part of our concept hotel, we have opted for not having them since we have noticed that most Guests staying preferred in any case to take the luggage up to their rooms by themselves. Of course we have made sure that this could be done very easily by creating floors with no steps and large enough lifts to fit people and luggage together. This does not in any way imply that in case of need our receptionists would not be there to help Guests which would have problems in taking their luggage to their rooms by themselves.

Coming to the restaurant, Berzitello, we would like to explain that although you had the impression that we were suggesting this restaurant because we have ties to it through one of our employees, please note that this is absolutely not true. First and foremost the waitress whom you have met at the restaurant has been working for us only since April, while Berzitello is a restaurant which we normally suggest to our Guests because is very close by and many seem to appreciate its quality/rate ratio. Also, it is very common that waiters work in more than one restaurant part time, especially if these are located in the same area. In our case, this girl comes to iQ only three mornings per week while the other evening/lunch times works at Berzitello. As said, this is very common practice for this kind of job. Furthermore, another reason why we prefer to suggest this restaurant and not another one in the area is that we always take into consideration our Guests’ opinions and their personal experiences. Guests seem to appreciate much more Berzitello than other restaurants in the neighbourhood.
Furthermore, our staff tends to suggest a restaurant depending on our Guests’ requests. In your case, having seen that you were quite tired after a day travelling and having decided to go out late in the evening, our receptionist opted for a close by restaurant thinking that a short walk away instead of a taxi ride in the Roman evening traffic would have been a better choice in your case. Barzitello is a common suggestion made by hotels in our area both for lunch and dinner since it is normally appreciated by most of our Guests. We are sorry to understand that this kind of restaurant was not what you were looking for for your evening. Having known about it after your experience and having you stayed more than one night, we would have been happy to suggest something else entirely.

Excellent hotel, staff were amazing, helped us out with the problem we had trying to confirm our transport to the airport. They have all the facilities you need, the vending machines are great and it is so handy having laundry facilities on site. The gym and sauna were good and we even had a fridge! Room was clean, spacious and modern. Short taxi drive to the Vatican and close to termini train station. We would definitely stay here again an would recommend to anyone visiting. Thanks for making our stay enjoyable!

The IQ Roma is by far a hidden gem in Rome. The location is a short 5 minute walk from the train station ( area is fine for tourists to be out and about) rooms have a mini- fridge so you can stock up on snacks from the local supermarket (Despar) also only a 5 minute walk. For us coffee loving Americans, you can use the hot water machine or the microwave on the 4th floor and make your own Americano ( bring some instant packets from home or pick up up a box at the market ) room was the cleanest I have ever seen, and the king size bed very comfortable. Wi- Fisk connects quickly and it is free. The best part of the hotel is the staff at the front desk, they must of had to pass a test on how to be friendly and helpful , and smile even when dealing with tired, frustrated travelers. Definitely going to recommend for anyone traveling to Rome. PS: they also have a huge roof top garden, with abundant seating and a swing set !

Room Tip: 4th floor if hot water is a priority , but all are close by elevator.

I chose this hotel for its proximity to the train station as I was just overnighting and it was exactly what I needed, although very different from the usual Italian hotels I stay in. After a longish train ride it was great to be able to walk to the hotel and be greeted by very friendly staff and a cool, comfortable room. It was also a good opportunity to get some self-service laundry done. Breakfast selection was very good.

This 4 star hotel beats almost every 4 star in the US, and especially Rome. It is a flat rate, 48 euro from the airport to the hotel via Taxi, and a short 2 block walk to Termini Train Station.

As everyone mentions, the hotel is modern, and has everything you would want for what little time you should spend in the room. Our room was of average size, with a below average comfortable bed (it was way to hard), but to each their own.

The amenities were fine, and the location was great as mentioned in all other reviews. Service was above average and that means a lot in Rome. It is very easy to find below average customer service, so this was a rare find.

For the price, I'm not sure you can find better. I booked plenty in advance and saw the price climb significantly as I got closer to the date. (almost 2 times more) Booked directly through the hotel website. Very easy.

Other notes:
-My verizon iPhone 4s worked great in all of Italy with my global plan
-Taxi's in Rome are just like every other city, they try to scam tourists all the time. Know where the flat rates are (specifically the airport to the hotel, I had to argue with my Taxi until he realized my phone/internet worked in Italy) They also like to say you didn't pay them enough (hand them a 50 and they turn around and say you only gave them 20) so announce the bills you're giving them

No real complaints with this hotel -- clean, decent-sized room, good location, good breakfast. Views were nothing special as Rome goes, even from the rooftop. Staff are efficient and polite but not particularly friendly or personable. Five-minute walk from Repubblica metro station, 5 minutes from Santa Maria Maggiore, between 10-20 minutes' walk for many of the other major sites (Colosseum, Trevi fountain, Spanish steps...). The nearby Monti district has apparently become fashionable for its nightlife and restaurants, but we really didn't have the chance to explore it much. Next time, for the same money, we'll try a place a bit closer to the Vatican and Trastevere, though that may mean giving up some of iQ's modern conveniences...
