We arrived by fast train to Termini Station. With our luggage strapped to our backs, we walked the short 3 or 4 blocks to the hotel. Very convenient. We checked in quickly with the friendly, helpful staff. The room was clean, modern, of ample size, and reasonably priced. There was a microwave in an area across the hall and an inexpensive guest laundry one floor away. A more than adequate breakfast buffet, with hot and cold selections, was served on the top floor each morning. Lots of seating plus you could even eat outside on the rooftop if you wished. From the hotel you can easily walk to several restaurants, the National Museum and two subway stations. Due to our Roma Pass not being available for pickup at Termini as advertised, we ended up walking to the Spanish Steps to take the free walking tour of Rome,. It wasn't all that far and, in fact, was kind of fun briskly walking the streets of Rome like we knew what we were doing. The free walking tour, which included several churches, the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain, was a great way to start our four days in Rome.

When we decided to return to Rome this year, it was definitely our intent to stay at iQ Hotel. Although they have higher room rates now compared to my last visit in 2010, the hotel has remained steadfast in providing great service.

The hotel is ideally located near the Roma Termini. Walking distance actually if you are smart enough to travel with a small carry-on with wheels.Nothing beats being close to the main train station, the Metro (Repubblica station is just at the corner).

The concept of the hotel is to provide the basic services - a clean spacious room, internet that really works and an empty bar ref to fill with what you would like to eat and drink. This eliminates the need to be charged 3 euros per can of coke, etc. On various floors within the hotel they have coin operated laundry machines, vending machines that dispenses soda, sandwiches, even wine and yes, umbrellas and ponchos in case the weather turns sour!

Check-in and check-out are easy. Unfortunately on our return trip after our tour they could not confirm a room through the length of our stay so we can to find another hotel.

The breakfasts are 10 euros but they provide a good buffet selection that will keep you full on your Roman excursion. They have a variety of fresh fruits, cheeses, cold cuts, beverage and juices, etc.

Overall, a great hotel in the middle of Rome centro that provides great conveniences. I will definitely return and always recommend it to friends.

Room Tip: The rooms all face outside toward the streets and if you are like us, keep the door slightly open fo...

My wife and I stayed here in June 2013. We walked back from the Vatican to the hotel while seeing all the sites so it really is nicely located. We were able to walk to the Coliseum and back with ease as well. The rooftop lounge was a nice place to eat and drink while meeting other guests. We were grateful for the onsite laundry after being on the road for 8 days so we could make it through our 3 week vacation. I will definitely return to the IQ on my next visit to Rome.

iQ Roma is relatively new, with many modern conveniences and a good location. My wife and I took the Leonardo Express train from the airport (FCO) to the Termini Station in Rome (this is a big train station -- I live in New York City, with Penn Station and Grand Central, and the Termini reminds me more of an airport).

iQ Roma is maybe a 10 minute walk, with rolling luggage, from the Termini. The sidewalks from Termini to iQ Roma can be busy, but we were glad we didn't pay for a taxi to take us the 4 or 5 blocks to the hotel. (Our trip was in October, with an average high temp of 70 degrees Fahrenheit -- if you're in Rome in the summer heat, or in the rain, you may want to take a taxi to the hotel from the Termini -- I'd guess it would be 8-10 Euro with luggage).

Being so close to the Termini there are many buses and both Metro lines just a few blocks away, so the whole city is available to you. We took the Metro and a couple buses, but walked most of the time. Many "must see" sights are within a 30+ minute walk from the hotel -- The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, Circus Maximus, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, Camp di Fiori, etc. We took the Metro to the Vatican and back, and a bus back from near the Trastevere neighborhood (on the other side of the Tiber River).

The iQ Roma rooms are on the small side, but modern with AC (which runs very quietly), multiple electrical outlets in the room and one in the bathroom (don't forget adapters, though the front desk has some to loan to guests), multiple switches by each side of the bed to control the lights around the room, a good-sized bathroom, and a TV with many Italian and some English/International channels. The rooms are carpeted.

iQ Roma has laundry machines in the hotel for guest use, I think it was 2 or 3 Euro for each wash and dry. Very convenient, allowing me to pack less knowing I could wash my things. The washing machine includes the laundry soap, also convenient if you don't mind not having the choice of detergent. Maybe 30 minutes for each wash, and another 30 for the dryer. (We did laundry during breakfast, popping down to the laundry room and then back up to finish our meal.)

We had breakfast each day on the top floor of the hotel (we stayed four nights), in a bright, open space dedicated for the buffet meal. Breakfast is 10 Euro per person, with a nice selection of food -- scrambled eggs, pancetta (which is not bacon), sausage/hot dog-type things (didn't have any), individual yogurts, sliced fruit, breakfast pastries, a coffee/cappuccino/hot cocoa maker, juice selections, and more. They have good service, quick turnover/replacement of items running low, and factoring in the convenience of being in the hotel, I think it's well worth the 10 Euro. It's not a hotel restaurant though -- they only offer breakfast. Plenty of places to eat in the neighborhood as well, for breakfast or whenever.

There is a covered roof garden open 24 hours, with plenty of seating and tables, and with vending on the way out there, including bottles of wine (yes, chilled wine bottles in a vending machine, reasonably priced I thought). Many people were on the roof in the evening, smoking and drinking and using the free WiFi at the hotel. If you bring your own wine/beer/alcohol, they have cork pullers/bottle openers by the vending machines as well.

We found the front desk staff friendly, English-speaking, and there around the clock.

If I'm in Rome again, I'll be happy to stay at iQ Roma again.

Room Tip: We had a corner room, which seemed larger than some of the others (we noticed as we walked by the ot...

The IQ Hotel in Rome is new and spacious. The staff is very friendly and helpful. With only one exception, this is a great place to stay while in Rome.
From Termini Station, it is a eight block walk or a short taxi ride. Just four blocks East and Four blocks North, directly across from the Rome Opera. ( If you walk, you will see many others dragging luggage and clutching maps in the same area.)

The lobby is very large and spacious and 100% modern. Furniture is new and comfortable. They have a lobby micro-bar with top shelf beverages at reasonable prices (see photo).

The rooms are large with a very firm, but comfortable bed. A room refrigerator is provided. Ice is available on every floor with 16 ounce sized ice buckets. Vending includes coffee, sandwiches, soda and water.

The fifth floor vending also includes a wine and beer vendor (see photo). Multiple varieties of both red sand white wines as well as beer are available. Our favorite was a Chardonnay at 7 Euros.

This hotel has an inordinate amount of space provided for customer enjoyment. A relatively large gym is on the 1st floor above the ground level. It contains a sauna (hot). The center courtyard is large. Smoking areas are provided overlooking the courtyard on each level. The fifth floor Breakfast Room (10 Euro) can hold more than 50 people and has a fantastic selection of American and European breakfast selections. Two self-service espresso machines are here. Also, on the fifth floor is an outdoor patio covering around one half of the roof area. Tables and comfortable lounges are there for guests to enjoy the drinks from the close nearby wine/beer vendor. A very popular place for guests.

Many restaurants with street seating are just a half block away. A McDonalds is only one block North near a bus stop. A subway stop id just two blocks away.

The only distraction I could find was a tuba player practicing scales at the Rome Opera that is directly across the street. It is amazing how many hours and days a person can play the same thing to achieve excellence. If possible, ask for a room away from the Opera entrance area.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms overlooking the Opera. The instrumental practice room is in the front near the IQ Hotel...

Great location for the Termini and Metro, clean and modern, nice breakfast, very quiet and we enjoyed our stay.

Negatives, our room was smaller than expected (standard double) as we struggled to walk between the bed and the desk, no bath, I am fairly sure there wasn't any air conditioning as it only seemed to have heat, no tea and coffee making in the room and the small TV had only Sky international news and BBC news that was watchable (the few others kept breaking up).

Don't get me wrong, I would stay here again, but its an expensive 4* plus hotel which shouldn't have these shortcomings.

Room Tip: If the small double is smaller than the standard double avoid the small as our standard room wasnt t...

Dear Guests,

We are glad to read in your review that you have enjoyed so many aspects of our Hotel and that you might be returning again.

Coming to your negative points, we are sorry to learn about them only now. Having been brought to our attention at the time of your stay it would have been our immediate concern to look into them. Unfortunately, we could not locate your reservation so we can only to clarify your notes for our future customers.

Room: please note that all our rooms are thoroughly described on our selling websites. These feature pictures, sizes and room setting per room type. Moreover, our front office staff is available 24h a day for any further query clients might have. We highly values our Guests’ business therefore we want you to book the room which bests suits their needs.

Bathtub: please note that standard rooms may come either with a bathtub or a shower. Since not all the standard rooms have a bathtub we cannot guarantee it at the time of booking, however it will be our care to take not of any particular request and in case a room with the requested feature will be available at the time of check-in we will be very glad to assign it to you.

Air conditioning: kindly note that this was perfectly functioning throughout October. It is very import to us to learn immediately of our Guests needs; in fact, having known about this distress at the time, it would have been our care to check the room system and in case offer an alternative solution to ease the discomfort.

Tea and Coffee facilities: kindly note that nowhere on our websites we describe these as a room feature, the reason being that, although many Guests have started to expect this item in the room, it would differ from iQ’s very concept of “no frills” type of accommodation. An alternative to this facility is offered on the last floor of our building, where a hot water dispenser can be found.

TV channels: please note that all our rooms feature a flat screen TV which is considered of normal size for the width of the rooms offered. As for the English speaking channels, we have 12 different ones which are available for free. As for the “breaking up”, as for the air-conditioning, no other Guests had reported this problem, however having know about it we would have sent immediately our shift engineer to check it.

Rates: we would only like to confirm that not only our rates tend to be in line with those of our competitors and vary according to the season, but also that our rate policy takes into consideration our own concept in order to always offer the best value in quality/rate ratio.

We hope that we have clarified some points; for any further assistance or query we are available 24h a day to answer your questions.
