Friday October 19, 2013 - I'm a travel agent and I used Trip Advisor to find a hotel for a pre-night cruise stay in Rome. So I'm thankful to all the guest who recommended the IQ Hotel. We arrived safely in Rome and our Viator driver was waiting for us and whisked us off to our hotel in Rome called the IQ Hotel at http://www.iqhotelroma.com. IQ is a very nice modern hotel in Central Rome. Our Viator http://www.viator.com (worldwide excursion company) car was a Mercedes sedan capable of holding our luggage in the trunk. Our driver was friendly and gave us some local information. It was a blessing I decided not to do the train to the hotel because there was a strike going on and all the trains were down for the day. It's always good to arrange transfers in advance and I do that for all my clients. The IQ Hotel reception was quick and friendly. The staff is young and fun. Our room was ready and we were delighted with the cleanliness and twin beds as requested. The spacious modern bathroom was a treat with a separate full bathtub and shower. There was also another full standing shower and a double vanity. The bathroom was spacious and nicely designed. The shower was hot with great water pressure. The hotel toiletries were very nice. We slept great that evening but we didn't go to bed right away so we could get a good nights sleep after sightseeing. Our sightseeing goals were to see the Trevi Fountain, have a great dinner and gelato. So after 25 minutes of walking and sightseeing we made it to the Trevi Fountain and on the way I had gelato. I couldn't resist it when passing by this gelato shop with a delicious looking display of flavors. From the Trevi Fountain we took a taxi to the restaurant our Viator driver recommended but to our disappointment it was closed for business. We should have Googled it but oh well we're on vacation. So being the smart tourists that we are we asked the taxi driver to take us to where he eats locally. We said we want food that tastes like your mother cooked it. So the driver brought us to the Trattoria Frascati and it was delicious. I had my Pasta Carbonara. We started with a simple but delicious salad dressed in olive oil and red wine vinegar with fresh bread. We also had a carafe of red wine. The weather was picture perfect and just right for dining al fresco. When the pasta carbonara arrived I said I can't eat all of this but I savored every last bit. We lingered and enjoyed the evening. We strolled down the street and picked up some water and just kept walking until we got a cab back to the hotel. A perfect evening. Our other travel buddy met us at the hotel and we showed her our room and Brenda walked her back to her hotel and had a gelato on the way. She felt safe walking back to the IQ by herself. It's a very nice area and the staff will make you feel like home. I loved the IQ and i highly recommend it for a short or long stay. It's centrally located and safe. Ciao Ciao.

Stayed for 3 nights, great stay, no complaints. Approx 15 minute walk to top of the Spanish steps, and other highlights. Modern hotel, comfortable feel, great service, friendly staff. Far enough from the heavy tourist area not to be bombarded with solicitation. Great rooftop patio for evening snacks, drinks and games before dinner or if you feel like staying in for the night. Rooms were an average size. Overall great experience, with nothing bad to say.

We stayed for 5 nights in June and were not disappointed. It is not in the best location for the tourist sites but is still close enough and is very convenient for Termini Station and the airport train.
Service was excellent. One day we were catching the train to Florence at 7.20 and so didn't have time for breakfast which started at 7 and which we had prepaid. They were very happy to make up two packed breakfasts for is instead which we ate on the train.
The rooftop is great to just sit and chill (though I would go out round the corner to Carrefour to get wine as the stuff in the vending machine is like paint stripper) and having a self service laundry was convenient. Our room was a little small but had a balcony (4th floor) and you could hear the opera orchestra rehearsing which we liked.
Overall a great hotel and highly recommended.

We booked this hotel because it was new, this hotel has really done its homework for travellers. Having never travelled to Rome prior was rather nervous about comfort , cleanliness and location. This hotel was more and everything as well.It was perfect for us, we had been travelling for 5 weeks and it had a self serve laundry which enabled us to do all our washing ourselves. Also had vending machines for just about any thing you need, eg essentials, personal care items, wine, beer. Coffee, had free ice machine, rooftop terrace, amazing new hotel. If you like clean well maintained rooms without the cultural decor this modern hotel is for you. Aircond was perfect, the beds on our room were 2 singles which on request was made into a king size bed with a mattress topper as I was rather
Happy about as I was suffering from a sore back from so many bad old hotels rooms we had stayed in over the previous weeks. If you are jetlagged and need a great sleep you will get it here, the room is whisper quiet and the curtains provide a darkened room to catch up on rest. This was by far one of the most comfortable hotels we stayed in for us. It is not old style baroque, it does not smell, everything actually works, the fridge is empty so you can put what you want in it! It does not have a pool but it has a gym.
Breakfast @ £10 EUR bargain with massive choice. Fruit to eggs, real coffee machine for espresso to cappuccino.
Being from Australia this hotel catered for our needs, staff were extremely helpful, location great, convenience store just around corner. Post office 5 mins walk, 5 min walk to train and bus. Definitely recommend and stay here again

Room Tip: We stayed on level one which was very quiet

We were really pleased with this hotel. It's modern, super clean, in a great location for the metro, with many restaurants and cafes in a close vicinity. We stayed for 5 nights and wish we had been able to stay longer. Breakfast is great value too at 10 euros each - full buffet and really good selection of foods. We found the staff helpful, but not overly friendly. All in all a terrific hotel.

The rooms are very clean and quite large for Europe. The front desk staff is so friendly and accomodating and they even have an amazing rooftop deck with a great view of Rome. We sat up there on a futon and drank wine while listening to the sounds of the city. They even have a vending maching with high quality wines and beers at a reasonable cost. The only drawback is that the location is at Termini, but than again we were able to take trains and buses all over the city and to the cruise terminal with ease. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Rome.

While this isn't the Ritz, it was the perfect stay for us. Fresh, clean, and the right amenities. Laundry, rooftop terrace, concierge, local neighbourhood for lots of restaurant choices. Walking distance to everything and that includes toting two young kids. The front desk is helpful and the hotel staff friendly. Five nights spent, worth the money and would do it again.

Room Tip: There are only 5 floors, so all reasonably accessible. Laundry on 2cd. Terrace on 5th. We stayed o...
