“Modern amenities, great location, clean, smart”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

Stayed here for four nights and really enjoyed it. The "IQ" in its name must come from the fact this hotel is so well thought out. The design is more smart and modern than opulent, luxurious comfort though, so don't expect deep soft mattresses and pillows. Do expect minimal modern functional design and clean rooms. After the other European hotels I stayed in, the room felt huge, but not large by most US standards. My room had a nice balcony where I could sit outside and watch the street below. Shower kind of small, basically a narrow box you stand in with 2 odd doors you open and enter through the corner of the box. Empty refrigerator in room for your use, always a huge plus. Great location, a little touristy, but not too bad. Like most of Rome, neighborhood was a little grungy with lots of culture for those who like it that way (me included). I walked to Pantheon and other nearby attractions easily in about ten minutes (it's a great scenic walk too), but took the nearby train to the Colosseum (could have long walked it though). Some useful facts: Laundry on 2nd floor, only 1 washer, 1 dryer. Costs 4 euros each. Takes 40 minutes for each. Ironing board in laundry room, not in rooms. Ice machine, coffee machine, liquor vending machine, and snack/soda vending on 5th floor (bottle water only costs .70 euros and is cold, this is cheaper than everywhere except supermarkets in Rome). The "IQshop" on the 4th floor is merely a vending machine with toiletries and other useful odds and ends. Wish I had figured out the train from airport to hotel before I left for trip. Taxi cost me 65 euros to hotel, but train only cost 14 euros back to airport. Take the Leonardo Express train and you'll get there faster than a cab. It's only a 5-minute walk from train station to hotel. In summary, this is one of the best values for modern hotels in Rome for those looking for functional design and location. Made my IQ feel higher by choosing Hotel IQ.

Room Tip: Side facing the entrance has nice balconies.

Stayed with a family and two teenagers on summer trip. A great family friendly hotel just minutes from Termini and 1 block to Via Nazionale. Waking distance to all major attractions . Had spacious room good enough for 4 people . Everything worked perfectly the airoconditioner was super strong. Heavy draping on windows kept morning sun away. Front desk was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was super with lots of variety . Great relaxing atmosphere in the morning meal. A real find of a hotel in the busy city. The price for the room was amazing compared with other hotels in the same category . Maybe bath soaps and shampoo could use a little improvement . Everything else was just perfect .

Room Tip: Stayed room facing the street no noise .

Probably our favorite hotel during our trip through Italy.

We were lucky enough to have great hotels through our trip, all thanks to Tripadvisor, but this was probably our favorite, a 10 minute walk from the Termini, very central to all the main sites. We walked to the Coliseum, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps; I believe no walk took more than 10 to 15 minutes. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, with little to no noise from the street or the hallways. The rooftop terrace was a great place to rest and relax after a long day of sightseeing, so nice to buy a bottle of wine or a few beers and just chill.

Breakfast was very good also; it was nice to have eggs and bacon included after only having pastries and fruit for the first week in other hotels.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a clean comfortable hotel near the Termini that won’t break the bank.

We stayed at the IQ Hotel for 4 nights. The hotel is modern. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but nice. It was very quiet. The location near the Termini was excellent for getting around to all of the sites. We enjoyed their daily breakfast, which had plenty of selections and good food. The staff at the front desk was always helpful with walking directions, transportation and advice. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel located in the center, everything is in walking distance.
New and clean, very rich breakfast, room is very nice, very pleasant stay.
Excellent location, 10min walking from Termini station.
Metro line is 5 Min walking.
A supermarket is across the street opens up to 20:00, very convenient for sandwiches, water and all kind of things before you walk the city.

Room Tip: Upper floors are closer to the breakfast hall, you can take the stairs avoiding the elevator which m...

This is the second time we have stayed here. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and modern. The hotel is close to Termini and Piazza de Republicca so you can get to public transportation easily. They have one washer, one dryer for self service use which we used both times. Laundry detergent is provided. They also have reasonable vending items. This time they held our luggage while we took the train to Florence. They are very willing to help you in any way. The breakfast buffet is worth the 10 euros as food is very expensive in Rome.

Friday October 19, 2013 - I'm a travel agent and I used Trip Advisor to find a hotel for a pre-night cruise stay in Rome. So I'm thankful to all the guest who recommended the IQ Hotel. We arrived safely in Rome and our Viator driver was waiting for us and whisked us off to our hotel in Rome called the IQ Hotel at http://www.iqhotelroma.com. IQ is a very nice modern hotel in Central Rome. Our Viator http://www.viator.com (worldwide excursion company) car was a Mercedes sedan capable of holding our luggage in the trunk. Our driver was friendly and gave us some local information. It was a blessing I decided not to do the train to the hotel because there was a strike going on and all the trains were down for the day. It's always good to arrange transfers in advance and I do that for all my clients. The IQ Hotel reception was quick and friendly. The staff is young and fun. Our room was ready and we were delighted with the cleanliness and twin beds as requested. The spacious modern bathroom was a treat with a separate full bathtub and shower. There was also another full standing shower and a double vanity. The bathroom was spacious and nicely designed. The shower was hot with great water pressure. The hotel toiletries were very nice. We slept great that evening but we didn't go to bed right away so we could get a good nights sleep after sightseeing. Our sightseeing goals were to see the Trevi Fountain, have a great dinner and gelato. So after 25 minutes of walking and sightseeing we made it to the Trevi Fountain and on the way I had gelato. I couldn't resist it when passing by this gelato shop with a delicious looking display of flavors. From the Trevi Fountain we took a taxi to the restaurant our Viator driver recommended but to our disappointment it was closed for business. We should have Googled it but oh well we're on vacation. So being the smart tourists that we are we asked the taxi driver to take us to where he eats locally. We said we want food that tastes like your mother cooked it. So the driver brought us to the Trattoria Frascati and it was delicious. I had my Pasta Carbonara. We started with a simple but delicious salad dressed in olive oil and red wine vinegar with fresh bread. We also had a carafe of red wine. The weather was picture perfect and just right for dining al fresco. When the pasta carbonara arrived I said I can't eat all of this but I savored every last bit. We lingered and enjoyed the evening. We strolled down the street and picked up some water and just kept walking until we got a cab back to the hotel. A perfect evening. Our other travel buddy met us at the hotel and we showed her our room and Brenda walked her back to her hotel and had a gelato on the way. She felt safe walking back to the IQ by herself. It's a very nice area and the staff will make you feel like home. I loved the IQ and i highly recommend it for a short or long stay. It's centrally located and safe. Ciao Ciao.
