“A great stay”
Reviewed 11 October 2013 via mobile

We ended up really happy with choosing this hotel.
The rooms are not that big, but they are really cosy and clean. And our room stayed clean during our stay.
The staff was nice and friendly, helpful with all kind of information we needed.
The hotel itself is located in a quiet area and we could get a really good sleep at night.
The breakfast is not rich at all but considering this is a fairly small hotel, it makes sense. It's tasty though.
A lot of people consider the location as a disadvantage but I believe this is not that bad. The subway is not that far and they have the shuttle service each morning.
I would warmly recommend this hotel! It's a great value for the money spent!

Inexpensive and tidy room. Good service in general terms. Kind recepcionists, always willing to help.
The flush didn't work properly always but I managed to get the knack. The air conditioning control didn't work either. Poor variety of breakfast. One of the waitresses didn't clean the tables and you had to do it yourself.
You have a 10 minute walk to the nearest subway station. Perfect to warm up before going sightseeing in that beautiful city. In 10 more minutes you're in the very center.
If you want a room closer to the center and without these minor problems (from my standpoint) you'll have to pay a higher price and you'll most likely experience other minor problems.

Inside, fine: modern decor, nice rooms, functional breakfast. The consideration here is how much you are prepared to travel if on foot in exchange for a much lower rate than a centrally located hotel. The metro is very rapid, so once on board, 15-20minutes into the central spots. But the walk from Battistini to the hotel was a good 20 minutes and inadvisable in heat.

The roads leading to the hotel are dotted with graffiti and large garbage bins, but the short driveway of the hotel was reassuringly pretty- neat shrubs, clean pavements and a welcome sight of a pocket garden with small fountain. The hotel's entrance hall has a mural of embossed designs that were a prelude to the great artistry and architecture we were to experience in this city. We booked 4 rooms and all were on the first floor; basic, clean, and comfortable with crisp white linens; bathroom is small but navigable for European standards and actually had toiletries provided (most other hotels don't). Full length windows open two ways with a view of the side-driveway. The clothes rack in the cabinet above the small ref is too high to reach (what, maybe they thought all people were 6-footers) but our room had a second panel of normal cabinets; one of our rooms had only the high one). Voices from adjacent rooms are audible through the walls and may disrupt your sleep but thankfully this happened only once. Wifi is free but only laptops got it; our iPhones and iPads couldn't log on - a system thing they tried to correct but weren't able to during our 2 nights there. The included breakfast was a small buffet and no one minds how often you go back for coffee or food; only thing is we found the breakfast too sweet- sweetbreads, glazed croissants, cakes and pastries all too sweet for our taste and only a few thin slices of ham or salami to go with it. There is a playground for kids outside and an activity area for them inside. We only stayed in the hotel for a good night's rest after exploring the historic sites of Rome. Walking or riding the metro may be too time consuming or tiring coming from the hotel; lucky we had someone who drove us around and everything seemed to be within short distance to and from all sites though Rome has its share of traffic during many times of the day. Over-all, the hotel is a good comfortable place to stay for a brief visit.

Room Tip: Rooms facing hotel front have more pleasant view; ask for room with normal height cabinets.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in September on a sightseeing trip to rome.
The hotel is really nice, decent size rooms and really clean. The receptionist were really helpful and spoke english really well. Breakfast was included and was pretty decent but nothing to amazing, good enough to start your day.
2 bad points.
1 The hotel is around 15 minutes walk from the last metro station on the A line which isnt too bad, however half the distance is thro a badly lit industrial estate which made my wife a tad nervous walking back in the dark. It may well be a very safe area, i dont know, but not a great location.
2 There is another hotel in rome with a very similar name, the Hotel Ginerva. This confused massive confusion on the airport transfer to the hotel, they were going to take us to the other hotel which is miles from this. We took a taxi home late one night and i ended up directing the driver as he had no idea where the hotel was! We airport transfer back to the airport twice sent a bus for us, both times to the wrong hotel, and was so late that we ended up getting another taxi and almost missing the flight. (i know this wasnt the hotels fault but the confusing is worth noting for anyone booking in the future).

if i came back to rome i wouldnt book this hote again, not for the standard of it but because of the location.

Myself and better half stayed here for 1 week in late August. We were on a tight budget and after reading fairly good reviews on TA we decided to book the hotel. Hearing about the distance from the center of Rome did not put us off as we are young and don't mind the extra walking, plus we are used to this from previous holiday trips as generally speaking, the further from the center the cheaper and better value!

We arrived at Ciampino airport around midday and got the bus to Termini station. From here we took Line A to Batistini (end of the line). As we knew the hotel shuttle bus only ran in the morning and evening we planned our walking route through google maps before we left for the holiday so we knew where we were going. (message me if you need help with directions). We found the hotel pretty easily, lovely from the outside and lobby area too. Reception staff were reasonably but not overly friendly.

Our room was on the ground floor and was small but clean. We were only there for sleep so as long as it was clean it didn't matter about the size. The bed was very comfortable and air con was good. TV didn't have any English speaking channels but again, we weren't there to watch TV! Bathroom small but clean with soap etc provided if needed, hairdryer too!

We actually enjoyed breakfast... being vegetarian having lots of cakes and pastries was lovely. Would have liked more fruit on offer though.

We used the shuttle a few times when we were there at the right time, takes litterally 5 minutes to get to the station/hotel. Walking takes 20 mins at a leisurely pace. The area at night is quiet and we felt safe.

All in all, we would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy Rome and not a luxury stay in a hotel!

We stayed at this hotel as it looked quite modern and spacious, away from the city hustle and bustle.

Firstly, It was difficult to travel to on public transport.

If you are walking to the hotel during the day from the train station or bus stop, it's OK, but at night it's quite scary as its situated in an industrial estate and is not lit up.

When we checked in, we were given two twin beds which were put together even though we had requested a double bed. This was not comfortable to sleep on at all.

The bathroom was tiny. It had a small shower cube. You would brush past the sink and toilet getting into the shower as there was hardly any room.

We came across one cockroach in the bathroom.

The lighting in the room is terrible.

The walls are super thin, so you can hear alot of noise - especially at night.

They do not give you an iron. You have to pay 5,00 euros per item and the maid will iron these for you.

The free wifi hardly worked. The PC that they have for public use was super slow. It took me 5 minutes to log into my email. I got fed up and just logged off.

Breakfast was a disappointment. It just consists of pastries and cakes. You only get one free coffee with breakfast. Any additional coffees have to be paid for.

The hotel runs a shuttle service in the morning and evening. The morning hours are OK. But the evening ones are so late, starting at 9:45pm. If you want to head back earlier, you have to make your own way.

In the hotel, it is advertised that they have a sun terrace where they serve alcohol every evening. When we asked about it, we were told that they do not serve alcohol despite there being signs that they do.

They also said that they have international channels on their TV service. We flicked through 1000+ and found no english channels whatsoever.

Room Tip: Ensure you get a double bed.
