“Lovely owner, very good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2013

Good points: extremely enthusiastic, happy, lovely land-lady. Good location. Very good price. Lovely poodle. Great balcony with lovely views. Very clean bathroom.
Bad points (but for the very good price, not sure you could expect these to be better): Very uncomfortable old creaky bed. Tiny amount of coffee for breakfast (although it was very nice) and everything else was plastic processed stuff (packaged croissant/ toast)
How to improve: update the beds, no need for 'breakfast', give a kettle and cups for each room so people can make their own tea/coffee.

Overall for the price it was an excellent place to stay if you are going to be out for most of the day. The high-light was the friendly, informative owner. However, I didn't sleep very well because of the uncomfortable old bed, so if you are looking for a bit more luxury this isn't the place.

My mum and I arrived just after lunch and we're greeted by Gabriella, who then proceeded to lightly tell me off because I never replied to the emails saying when we arrived. All my fault I checked afterwards and there was 5 emails in junk mail asking when we're arriving. Gabriella is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to Rome and gave us a map showing us what we can walk and explore within an afternoon. We were offered a choice of rooms, which included a beautiful view of St Giovanni and a tv (could not find an English Channel tho). Bed was comfy and there was a blanket in wardrobe for when it got a bit chilly. Bathroom was good standard and very clean. In the morning on a trip to the bathroom past Gabriella's door you're greeted by a very happy poodle called Jess, who if like me you could spend forever saying hello to and she loves it. Breakfast is a traditional italian sweet breakfast with pastry and toast like things with Nutella or jam and espresso. A little bit more variety would have been nice hence 4 stars out of 5.
Overall stay here price is reasonable, rooms are comfy, breakfast sets you up and bathroom clean. When I return to Rome it will be with bel ami I'll be staying

This place is perfect for those who need a quiet place to stay. Gabriela, the owner, is very friendly and kind. And i loved her little cutie dog Jess!!!! :)
The location is good too.
I will definitely come back! :)

Despite arriving in Rome and checking in quite late 13 nov 2012 10 pm, Gabriella was patiently waiting for me to arrive. A warm welcome from her followed and I soon felt as if I was at home.
All queries about where to go and what to do in Rome were answered clearly by her. It made the stay in Rome even better and more pleasant.
Just one word: Gabriella = superb. Grazia!

Location is conveniently 2 mins walking to San Giovanni metro that heading straight away to Termini and Ottaviano St Pietro without the need of changing lines. (Battistini - Anagnina)

Via Confino's surrounding is also offering pleasant walkthrough route in the morning and evening where you can observe the daily activities of Rome residents. Cafes along Magna Gracia are easily seen welcoming you in morning for quick espresso shot and Via Appia surprisingly is also a favorite place for shopping in the afternoon (shopped at AS Roma fans store at 130 Via Appia)

Lastly the Laterano Basilica which is 5 mins walking from Bel Ami complements everything San Giovanni has.
Useful bus: 117 , 85

A pleasant place to stay indeed.

Located close to Metro (Ponte Lungo). Breakfast served in the room. 5th floor with lift. Convenient and reasonably priced. We had a view of the San Giovanni in Laterano Cathedral. Pretty especially at night.

During my stay in Rome i was calling Bel Ami 'my home' because I really felt like being home.Cozy room, hospitable owner, perfect location and reasonable prices. The metro station is few metres from B&B,so we could reach any city attraction with no problem. It takes 15 min to get to Colosseum on foot, which I think is a perfect place for night walks:) And of course the view on San Giovanni Church will charm everyone who chooses Bel Ami... I highly recommend this place for those who are planning their trip to beautiful Rome!
