The place wasn't busy and the waiter was breathing down our neck. Wanted the house wine and he was trying to insist that we should by a bottle of wine. "That's what he would do ..." - not what we wanted and had to ask twice more fir the house wine. Than he was hovering over us for our order... We were trying to study the menu and find something we wanted to try. He did lighten up a bit... The meal it self was pretty okay - nothing note worthy to return for. The had finished eating when I noticed a cockroach claiming a long the seat benches! It was heading straight for us and our belongings. My friend got up, my husband tried to find someone. The waiter couldn't believe his eyes! He said it couldn't be! Well I don't travel with them! After returning and getting a napkin he got it away from us. We lost all appetite - never finished our wine. Walking up to pay, the rest of the staff sought it was funny- until my husband got mad. They tried to give us some complimentary shots of limoncello - no thanks ! After much back and forth- they took 6€ off of our bill. The waiter that killed the bug, said it wasn't big. Well it doesn't matter how big it was - it was there ! Gross ...
Totally get things like this happen, but it the matter how one deals with this - customer service is not their strength.

Place looks a bit run down, but don't judge a book by its cover. Food was excellent. Seabass with fresh pasta. A bit expensive, and can be shocking, especially when rest of menu is about a third of seabass price, but well worth it. Definitely recommend.

This little osteria is placed jut next to Via del Corso, one of Romes most expensive streets where they sell almost all the top luxury clothing brands. We found this place while walking around the city and the shops. At first we just sat down because we were tired and couldn't think of any other place to eat but as we got the menu we found out that the prices weren't as expensive as we thought. While true that this isn't a typical cheap or economic restaurant it is at least affordable to most of people traveling to Rome and most of all, it is worth every penny. We had some of the best pizzas that we had ever tasted and I have been various times to Rome and Italy. Also the staff was really helpful and nice. The service was great. I recommend it to everyone who wants to enjoy a really nice lunch/dinner just 50 meters from the Spanish Steps and in the hart of Rome.

"Please sit, sit, sit.... sir, madam you sit, enjoy!".
Looking back on it...? Yuck.
Again we were being enticed to eat ... like the carnival gawker inviting us to sit... one place after another and we choose this place against better judgment and our restaurant of choice was full for the night. Desperate, our dinner would be on the street where the tables were set up, which is fine BUT then you are subjected to constant people coming directly to your table trying to sell you junk like wood baskets or fake flowers while you're trying to enjoy your Roma meal and experience. They don't take no for an answer and just keep harping. The servers appear to be in on this ruse, talking friendly with these sales people and passing who knows what to each other. There are some handshakes, and they are not asked to leave patrons alone. Perhaps paying the waiters to allow them to solicit your table while you are trapped trying to eat dinner? It was all very suspicious. And yes, petty stuff like bringing you bread without asking and then charging you for it. Overall, very subpar.
My fiance' said that the bathrooms were revolting and he wouldn't let me use it. This was common throughout Rome. Usually NO toilets seats either so heads up ladies.

70.50 euro or 92.50 dollars would get you:
An appetizer, a bottle of water, a carbonara (not bad actually), a risotto, and a bottle of wine and the not so free bread.... plus the 12% sitting down fee.

Here's the game when you walk up to a restaurant they want you to sit down. The reason… it's an automatic 12% service charge on the bill - that's their tip, unless noted. They give you a couple of menus and take their time getting back to you. Occasionally they may take your drink order, but usually they wait for you to put your menus down… ALL menus. Then order everything at once appetizer, main course, and even additional items at the same time. You won't see them again until your food is dropped off, because if you wanted water, you bought a bottle of it and they leave it at the table for you to pour. Rarely checked back if you needed anything. And then comes the bill, at which time they stood by the table to get payment.
I would skip this place and try to eat elsewhere if possible.

Awful food, ribs were just bones with couple grams of meat on them. Pizza has some (3 frutti di mare !) on it. The free bread was not really free. No one ordered it, but we had to pay. Courses were served 10 mins one after another ! Dirty, stinky bathroom. There was also an argument with those scammers about the tip, they claimed, we MUST tip them. Avoid this place: "Osteria della Vite" is an absolute NO-GO!!!!
