An excellent spot for traditional Roman pizza "al taglio" (which means "by the cut") This is wonderful way to go as you pay by the weight and allows you to try a piece of this and a piece of that as your appetite permits. No English is spoken, but the staff is super friendly and hand gestures are all you need to sample their spectrum of great ingredients atop perfectly chewy/crispy crusts. Packed with locals and the best pizza we had in the city.

I ate the most wonderful white pizza at this small hole-in-the-wall place. Very clean, great pricing, and such good pizza that I'd love to go back for more. And definitely will next visit to Rome. Located on small side street in Trastavere neighborhood.

Saw 4 Policemen eating in this very small place and knew it would be good. Workers did not speak any English, but by pointing and hand signals could figure each other out. Pizza sold by the slice by weight, all great. We bought 4 pieces (could only eat two then, saved two for later) and it cost 6 Euros. all were great.

This small pizza place (with no seating) is always jammed with locals. The pizza is excellent and sold by the slice (which is somewhat rare in Rome). Growing up in NY I ate a lot of Pizza. This place will not dissappoint even the most critical NY pizza critics. Located two blocks from Plaza dei Popolo.

I first came across this place in the summer of 2002 when I spent six-weeks living in Rome as part of a summer-abroad program. It was located a half-dozen blocks from school and I would go there for lunch at least once a week. There are a lot of Pizza Rustica's about, not all the same in terms of selection or quality, but this one was great.

It is located right outside the Flaminio Metro Station, across the street from the Piazza del Popolo, a half-a-block down Via Flaminia on the right. It is, literally, a hole in the wall. At lunch it is often completely packed and you almost need to push your way to the counter.

Pizza Rusticas normally sell by the slice, although the pizza is in large rectanglar dishes and you order by weight. An "eto" is about the size of a normal slice of pizza in the U.S. So you can ask for "un eto" and name a type of pizza or point to something that looks good. Eti is the plural of eto, so if you want a couple of pieces of plain pizza, ask for "due eti margherita."

The pizza comes folded over and wrapped in wax paper. Getting lots of napkins is a good idea. They also have drinks in a refrigerated cabinet on the side. Do not expect them to speak English. Last I checked, they only take cash, no credit cards.

There is no room to eat inside, but taking fresh, hot pizza and a cool drink (or getting fresh water from the fountains) and eating in the Piazza del Popolo on a warm, sunny day, is about the best way to spend an hour in Rome.

On trips to Rome in 2006 and 2007, my wife and I stopped in and got pizza here, which we enjoyed in the Piazza del Popolo, ah memories!
