“good ice creams. Famous for their Italian style "burgers"”
Reviewed 12 August 2012

Revamped place, used to be a Roman classic. Still worth going for a gelato or a tramezzino. They also have tasty little burgers and other snacks. outdoor seating.

“They will try to scam you as a tourist”
Reviewed 24 June 2012

Our hotel recommended this place. We ordered 1 large beer and the server came out with 2 small glasses asking if it was okay. He said he could go back and put it in one glass if we want. Thinking it was just a matter of convenience for him, we were fine with the two as it was still the same amount.

Food came, prosciutto crudo pizza and spaghetti. It was yummy and the place is part gelateria so I asked for Noci flavoured ice cream. They didn't have it so he recommended the coppa hungaria, apparently the most expensive ice cream (8euro!) and it wasn't even that good. It was 2.50 euro at the ice cream bar.

When the bill came, they charged 2 x 3.50 euro for the beer instead of 1x5 euro for a large. They gave a huge stink about him having drank it ( we didn't even each have a small glass!) so we should pay. Took 20 minutes of arguing to get him to correct the 2 euro difference. He even called the police who never showed. We weren't happy about our 'dessert' costing more than either of our emails but lesson learned I guess. Never take a recommendation without seeing the menu price. Especially in Rome.

“Great gelato!”
Reviewed 12 May 2011

I had one of the best gelatos in Italy.
Try the pineapple/coconut combo, with coconut fiber. OMG, so good!!
I also ordered the pasta alla gricia and it really hit the spot. In fact, it was excellent.
My son ordered the hamburger completo and it was very good.
This is not a fancy place. It was "child friendly," as we had two little ones with us.
I would definitely recommend Bar Hungaria.
