We stayed at the Vatican View, arriving as the new Pope Francis appeared at the window. Fabio, at reception, shared his computer screen with us to see the moment. We heard the crowd outside cheering as we checked in. The room was very modern, clean and comfortable. It had a small kitchen with stove top, kettle, sink and fridge - all you would need to fix a snack or meal. On the roof is a terrace, with comfortable seating, where you can see part of St Peter's Bascilica, or people watch on the street below. The hotel has a small elevator (maybe 2 people) with access to all 4 floors. The front door is literally 50 meters from St Peter's Square, so you can judge the best time to avoid lineups. There are plenty of little restaurants and souvenir shops in the neighbourhood and the hop on bus can be accessed 500 meters from the square. We had asked for an airport car to pick us up, Fabio was so obliging to call the company and confirm our booking - they go the extra mile to ensure your stay is wonderful. I don't know the star rating of this hotel, but it must be a 3 star at least.
