“Vatican View Regression”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2014

After reading the wonderful reviews, we were really looking forward to our 4 x day stay at this highly rated property. On arrival at the airport, we were supposed to be met with a pre-arranged driver, after 45 minutes and NO SHOW we took a taxi to the hotel The fact is we arrived at the small reception where we were met with warmth. After being given our room key, my wife asked about the kitchen in the adverts, and was told there is no kitchen, she was disappointed, as she is a vegetarian and likes to prepare her own food where possible. On the third day we found out there is a charming kitchenette, at the out side of our room, cleverly concealed, with microwave, sink and all the utensils. There is an iron also (which my wife was told there were no irons) but be careful it leaks !
We are on a 4 x month trip through Europe, so we are making use of launderettes wherever we go ! On night two we hardly slept, as the neighbours above partied through the night ; due to the fact no management is in attendance from 10 pm to 7 am we were left in a quandary, management the next morning dealt with neighbours above…
There is only one small lift, and during our stay it was out of action for a whole day, so for a 65 + it was a bit of trip up and down the winding staircase.
The ambience is excellent, the room is similar in size to any Hilton or Marriot room, the bathroom which is tasteful, lacks a bath, and is small in size. The pillows are not feather pillows so a little hard. As is typical of Italy it is two single beds side by side
Next door to the Vatican City says it all, and the Metro is a 15 minute walk from the hotel which speedily gets you to all the tourist spots. Around the hotel there is a profusion of restaurants and we loved the early night life and the fact the ice cream is superb !
The staff are all very warm and friendly and full of helpful suggestions. While we asked about NON smoking, prior to booking they confirmed they are a non smoking establishment (we are both non smokers) this did not inhibit our next door neighbour smoking…
Frankly I think this is a super place for younger clients to stay due to the innovation, next time it's back to the more established hotel groups for me..

Room Tip: This is a small and cleverly designed boutique style hotel so rooms to us seemed similar

We visited Rome, with my boyfriend, at the 24th of May and we stayed at this wonderful hotel for three nights. We really felt very lucky about our choice, for many reasons!

First of all, location was great! Close to the city, easy to get there from the airport (We took the "Shuttle Bus" from Fiumicino Airport and we disembarked 30 min later at the first stop in Vatican area, 10 min walking for the "Vatican View"!), only a street behind the entrance of Vaticano. Another really good option that you are able to make there, is to rent a bicycle (the best way to explore Rome!) from a store just a few steps from the hotel! So, when you want to leave your bike and return to the room, oops..! you are home!!!

The second but the most important reason to book this hotel is the lovely and incredibly helpful staff! They gave us advices for everything that we could possibly need, like how to get to the hotel, how to visit the Roma sights, where to eat, where to go by night, where to go for shopping , everything!! We mostly met with Daniel and Alessandra, and we would really like to thank them because they treated us as friends!
P.S. Daniel suggested us some of the best traditional restaurants, Trust him, the food was really good exactly as the prices!

About the rooms, the first two nights, we stayed at a standard double room, as we had booked in a really good price for the Rome city. Although by first sight may seem a bit small room, it won't take long to discover a host of amenities that you couldn't expect! It is so well designed that you will find out small spaces all over the room! Super clean!! The bed mattress was extremely comfortable and with the sound proofing we had a perfect sleep! A tray with a kettle and all the necessities for breakfast daily refreshed, and like the water bottles, free! In the bathroom there are slippers, shower cups and everything!

The last night they advanced us in a deluxe room for free! That room was excellent! A lot more space, even for three persons, in the 3rd floor, so well furnished, and also with great amenities! Another reason to thank once again the so kind staff for that offer!

Thank you Vatican View!!!

Dear Marianna & Andriy!
What a pleasure reading this AWESOME review!
As you wrote, our hotel it is in a strategic position, close to the Vatican (museums and Basilica as well) close to the subway and 10/15 minutes far from Piazza Del Popolo, Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain and all the iconic places of Rome.
Our Motto is "Arrive guests and leave FRIENDS" anf that is what happed to you :D :D
We really hope to see you again.
A big hug from all of us.

Do not let the tiny front desk lobby give you the wrong idea - this place is wonderful! Great location, how can you go wrong staying with a next door neighbor of the Pope! Very, very clean and quiet. The staff - Allesandra, Daniel and Antonio are the best - very accommodating, fantastic recommendations for restaurants - they really go the extra mile to make sure the needs of their guests are met and to feel at home. Also, a very good cafe to the left of the front door with outstanding coffee, red wine and good cold beer!!! This is a great spot - don't miss out on a very Italian small boutique hotel that provides their guests with special attention.

Visited Rome several times over the years. This is by far the best hotel I have stayed at. A small place that might best be understood as a B&B without the breakfast. Excellent location for my purpose which was to concentrate on St. Peter's and the Vatican Museum (be sure get tickets on-line to avoid long waits). The standard room was fine for a single. You might want to step up for a couple. The place was very clean, the room very comfortable and well organized and quiet with A/C. Wi-fi worked well in the room. Tea, instant coffee, snacks, water provided free. They even gave me a box of cookies. Most important was the VERY friendly staff. Excellent for restaurant recommendations. On short notice I asked for a private car to tour several sights ( I find this a great way to get around). They had a car and driver for me in half an hour. Do get their car service from the airport. A bit more expensive then a cab, but very well worth it.

The Vatican View is all the reviewers say it is. Excellent place. Made my stay in Rome.

Not enough good can be said of the Vatican View Hotel and their staff. They were very welcoming and accommodating, and took extra steps to make our stay as enjoyable as possible, especially as we were traveling with an infant. In terms of location it is a great base for touring Rome. You are within walking distance or a short bus ride/ metro trip to the center of Rome. You are also a stone's throw away from the Vatican. When we visit Rome in the future, we will definitely be coming back and staying here! Alessandra, Daniel and Antonio, thank you for everything!

We were greeted warmly! The rooms and bathroom were very nice (ours had a beautiful bath and shower) the recommended restaurants were amazing and they kept us away from the tourist traps. The location was fantastic and we walked or jumped on the metro everywhere we needed to go. The clean staff and reception staff were super friendly and helpful! We really enjoyed our time at this hotel and would definite return!!

Room Tip: We had the deluxe room and it was very roomy and had a beautiful large bathroom!
