“Best In Rome”

Stayed for 4 nights with our family of four. What a great apartment - very spacious and well priced. The lift worked well and the owners met us there and provided all the information we could have wanted before they left.

The apartment had everything was provided including some food in the kitchen which we replaced before leaving. The location is great - on a busy street but there is very little noise with the windows closed. We left the windows open to experience the views / nightlife and got a nice breeze flowing through. Super fast wifi was free. Metro is close and lots of designer shops nearby. Plenty of places to eat and the coffee shop / patisserie across the road was magnificent.

I would not stay anywhere else next time I am in Rome.

“Lovely apartment and neighbourhood!”
Reviewed 6 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Vetusta Roma and completely agree with the stellar reviews. Mauro arranged for a taxi from the airport and patiently awaited our arrival, despite the fact that our flight was delayed by an hour. He and his daughter explained everything about the flat, the neighbourhood, and their lovely city of Rome. They provided maps and restaurant recommendations. They also made us feel completely at home and encouraged us to call them if we had any problems.

My husband and I love the amazing food in Rome but since we were with our teenagers we decided to eat at more budget-friendly restaurants. We went to the two restaurants Mauro recommended a total of 4 times between the 2 places and they were undoubtedly the best meals we had in Rome. Not only were they minutes away (walking), but they were affordable and delicious and the kids loved them.

The apartment itself was very comfortable and the bathroom is huge. The shower was a bit tricky for us to get used to - we finally learned a few tricks to ensure the pilot doesn't go off (essentially, don't turn on the cold water if you can help it). Our master bedroom had AC and so we were very comfortable, although the rest of the apartment doesn't have AC (you still get plenty of breeze with the windows open). The location is great (15 minutes walk to the Colisseum, 8 minutes to the metro, and lots of bus routes close by). Many of the reviews talk about the flights of stairs to the apartment but we are happy to report that there is a workable lift there now.

We would highly recommend this apartment to any families staying in Rome We were simply floored by the great value of the apartment - it must be because it's a little outside of the main areas, but for the price point, it is certainly worth it.

“Wonderful hospitality!”
Reviewed 23 July 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Mauro and his wife are amazing hosts - they set up a driver from the airport for us, met us at the apartment and took time out of their day to provide wonderful insights into their fantastic city. The apartment was perfect for the 4 of us - my 2 adult children and my son's girlfriend. The house was clean, quiet, stocked with beverages and some food - completely met our needs. It is located in a nice neighborhood just a 10 minute walk from the coliseum. I would easily stay here again. Thank you Mauro!

“Fantastic!”
Reviewed 2 April 2013 for a stay in March 2013

This perfectly located huge apartment, comfortably fits our family of four. Each room is very big with tall ceiling. Especially the bathroom is an unusual seeing in Europe because of its size and that it was provided with two sinks and a big bathtub. The host family is super friendly, speaking perfectly English. All the information that was provided from them was very handy. Also, you have to try the coffee shop across the street from the apartment. The cappuccino and pastry tasted excellent. Overall, we give this place two thumb up! :)

“Wonderful stay in Roma!”
Reviewed 18 September 2012 for a stay in September 2012

We stayed at this apartment at the beginning of September and it was wonderful. Mauro and his wife Lan where at the apartment for our arrival and helped us get comfortable and shared their knowledge of Rome and things to do and see with us. The apartment was beautiful and met all our needs and more. There were a lot of stairs but this didn't bother us at all and a new elevator is currently being fitted. The balcony in the main double bedroom was fanatstic waking up to everyday! Street noise was never an issue although outside can be very busy as there are shops such as authentic Italian patisseries, pizzerias, and a church opposite.

Also, free wifi!!! Which was great as recently i was on a cruise and had to pay £10 for an hour!! So we were able to Skype home to friends and family :)

Really really enjoyed our stay and next time we are in Rome we will certainly stay again. Thankyou Mauro and Family!

“Magnifico!”

We recently stayed at Vetusta-Roma for 1 month from early May to early June. Words cannot describe how wonderful this experience was, not just due to the beautiful city of Rome but because of the outstanding treatment we received from Mauro and his beautiful wife, Lon and their daughter. We were greeted at the apartment by all of them and every detail was attended to. We were shown how everything worked, where everything was located, given maps, recommendations for restaurants, how to get to the SMA, etc. We were thrilled with this apt, the marble floors, the HUGE bathroom and appointments, the kitchen, the bedrooms, the decor...I could go on and on. It is beautiful and in such a wonderful traditional Italian neighborhood. We were immersed in the culture and ways. We visited the markets, the pastissierie, the fruit and veg market, the meat and cheese shop, the restaurants and cafes and gelaterias, all right across or down the street from us. In each place we found the most wonderfully fresh and delicious products you could hope for.The people quickly came to know us and although we were clearly American, they embraced us, tolerated our poor Italian and made us feel like we belonged in their neighborhood. Even the ladies one floor down from us, quickly started treating us as if we were true neighbors! The apartment is conveniently located to public transportation and is walking distance to many of the sites anyone would want to see in Rome. The best part of this experience however was the wonderful treatment and hospitality shown us by Mauro and Lon. They made us feel so welcome and that we were family. We would recommend Vetusta-Roma to anyone for any length of stay. Thank you, Mauro and Lon, we hope to return soon!
