Piazza Navona is one of the most beautiful squares in Rome, but the traditional Christmas market is not what used to be. In the old days, throughout the month of December, you would see kiosks run by locals selling nativity scenes of all kinds and sizes, and the local Christmas sweets children eat during the holiday season. Now, the kiosks are noisy, full of second-rate, made in China stuff, stale food and are run by foreigners who do not understand what they are doing and why. Frankly, it makes me sad to see this tradition dead.

Usually a lovely place to stroll around but at Xmas and New Year it is filled with stalls for the festive period and with the crowds it is not as good an experience but a fairly good atmosphere

It was raining lightly but the magic of this Piazza never ceases to astound me. The wonderful paintings and little stalls surrounding the amazing fountains and of the course the wonderful Chiesa that blew our minds: it is TRULY beautiful!

We turned a corner and our eyes feasted on the most wonderful scene of Christmas stalls selling decorations and local sweets, carousels and fountains and happy smiling people. A really lovely place. The fountains are amazing, their sculptures awe inspiring.

What a great place to visit, simply a magnificent fountain and historical piece, but it is full of vendors who want to sell you any amount of garbage, they really need to clean this up as it ruins a great spectacle.
