Owner description: Certainly the most famous and photographed fountain in Rome, legend has it that whoever throws a coin into the pond will return to Rome.

I know it is famous from film and song, but I thought the one under the obelisk in the Piazza Navona was as good and there are far less crowds. By all means go but don't miss the many others in particular the Piazza Navona ones.

this is so busy and we visited in February! An amazing sight, makes you want to watch the films that it has featured in again. Some lovely small bistros close by too

A must see, to throw a coin over your shoulder into the fountain is said to ensure another visit to Rome. Arrive early morning or later in the day to avoid the crush of the coach loads of tourists all wanting to toss their coins.

I've always wanted to go to the trevi fountain. I thought the idea was so romantic and i loved seeing it in real life, the detail is so intricate and its huge, is an amazing thing to see. However Im a very hypocritical tourist who hates other tourists. It was just incredibly busy and if you wanted a photo you had to dodge the people. I would have liked to sit down and just admire it without having someones bum in my face every second.
If you go on a weekday Imagine it to be less busy and we went in a high season. So beautiful and definitely worth a visit. We did the pantheon, trevi, and spanish steps altogether as they're all very close by.

Take the time to visit both during the day and at night when it's beautifully lit. Hard to avoid the crowds and you will need to jockey for a good position to get a decent photo but is well worth it.
