Owner description: Certainly the most famous and photographed fountain in Rome, legend has it that whoever throws a coin into the pond will return to Rome.

Covered in scaffolding and completely drained of water. We were very disappointed.
There's certainly no romance here right now.

When we visited there was no place to throw coins and the walkway was closed but it was still very crowded.

Apparently it will be closed until some time in 2015.

Was looking forward to seeing the fountain but was not prepared to see it empty & being renovated!! Didnt hear about it & not mentioned before hand by even our hotel. Still threw coins in over the walk way & will be back in the future. Worked started June & due to take 20 months :-(

unfortunately in our 4 day stay in rome, the beautiful trevi-fountain was under-construction and couldnt been seen well.there were some films playing on tvs which showed pictures of fountain. we had heared alot about this great fountain and being under-construction made nothing less than it's beauty, just that it didnt make our awe,but even in this situation, i liked very much the story behind this fountain:of the virgin finding water. it's romantic in itself, isnt it? even the glory of the whole monument is still emerging from behind all those equipments. we walked 2 nights from our hotel in nazional st. to trevi fountain to feel the great atmosphere in the air in rome's streets and esp. around this fountain of lovers!!! u can find alot of toursists still in nights even in this situation. so eager to come back again to lovely rome and didnt want to lost our chance and memory,we threw a coin in the symbolically made little basin there, and yessss!!!!!! i did it perfectly and i had a good shot and threw it right in the basin,so we certainly back to rome again and will find the great romantic trevi fountain right there in it's original position:) do it, or u will regret!!! enjoyyyyyy it:)

Unfortunately, the fountain is under construction and there isn't really what to see now...
Hope that in the next time it will all be done by then.
