“Loved it, hope to return one day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2011

Our expectations were met at this hotel. Our room was clean, cozy, modern and spacious. Staff were helpful. We stayed in a suite without the view of Rome but we had the upgrade allowing access to the hospitality room which had free snacks and drinks all day and a balcony with an incredible view of the city. Without the upgrade, the Internet, pool, breakfast, and hospitality room would not have been included would have been expensive extras. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices. Pool area was fantastic with a separate adult pool and 2 heated children's pools. The shuttle to Rome was easy and convenient. Did not use the gym or spa but looked very good.

Room Tip: Ask for city view - difficult if you don't have Hiltons Honors membership

We were a family of 5 (3 adults, 2 teens) staying in Rome for 3 days at the beginning of a 2 week stay in Italy. We used Hilton points for part of our stay (Gold Member). We had issues when we checked it--entirely my fault, and did not have a second room. The hotel staff and manager (Khaled) worked with us to rectify and set us up with adjoining rooms overlooking the city of Rome (our upgrade with Hilton Honors). they were incredibly patient, accomodating and helpful with all of the gyrations of making my points work for us and accomodating our family. This was the absolutely most perfect way to start our Italian experience. The rooms were beautiful, immaculate. The breakfast buffet was the largest and most plentiful of all the hotels we stayed at in Italy. Get there by 10 --one morning we were late, but the staff was very flexible and accomodating. The hospitality room for HHonors members (Gold and Diamond) came in very handy when you wanted a snack, a glass of wine or prosecco, or a cappucino. Definitely helpful since everything is quite pricey, even for a Waldorf Astoria. I would definitely return--this was a great way to experience Rome, but stay outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown. The shuttle was great also, we did use it a number of times--drops you down by Via Veneto-easy walking to Trevi Fountain, shops, restaurants. I did want to mention the hotel concierge recommended a local Sicilian restaurant within walking distance (Vespri?) one night when we didn't feel like jumping in a cab again. That was one of the best meals in the 2 weeks we were in Italy, and probably the least expensive--definitely take a walk. Thanks to all of the staff at the Cavalieri.

This hotel was simply amazing. The location is about 10 minutes from anything in downtown Rome. (A taxi cab ride for about 15 Euro could get you anywhere!) It is quiet and serene on the Hill that overlooks ROME...THE VIEW IS priceless.
We were not fortunate to have a room that faced the city (our room faced the Ghetto...well at least that is how I felt). We asked for a change of scenery but they told us we would have to pay $200 Euro a night...(it wasn't worth it to us)...But the room itself was VERY LARGE AND VERY CLEAN AND VERY BEAUTIFUL (however I did find 2 dirty tissues behind the bed...I wasn't willing to touch them but I could only imagine what was on the time...SO if someone from the hotel reads this...we were in room 846... I THINK...after leaving elevators make a left and we were a few doors down on the left)...If you go be sure to sign up for the CLUB LEVEL...This entitles you all day to "FREE FOOD AND DRINKS" in the Lounge...IT WAS SNACKS ALL DAY but the Drinks were free... They had tables on the terrace where you can just grab a glass of wine or proseco and relax while looking at the beautiful city...BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET TO CAUGHT UP IN THE VIEW>>>YOU MAY STAY THERE ALL DAY! The mini bar water was 9 Euro....but a short walk to the lounge it was Free...YOU DECIDE!.. Breakfast Buffett was included in the price and it was beautiful and wonderful to sit outside eating from a WONDERFUL selection of both Hot and Cold...(THEY EVEN HAVE A GLUTEN FREE SECTION on the buffett which I thought was a nice touch). I used the spa....UNBELIEVABLE! We did not make it to the pool...but IT LOOKED AMAZING!. oh and one more thing...The internet was $20 Euro a day...(which I felt was very pricey for something that should be free) If you go to Rome...STAY HERE you won't be disappointeed!!

Room Tip: ask for City View room...if not you will face the Ghetto!

I stayed here with a friend while we were traveling around Italy for another friends wedding. The friend I was traveling with booked this hotel on Hilton points so we didn't have to pay for it (good thing). The hotel is a bit far from most of Rome's attractions but the shuttle is quite handy. The outdoor pool is nice (get there early to get a good spot). The indoor pool is heated and relaxing-- you must wear a swim cap which is quite normal for Europeans but not for American's.
We had dinner once at the hotel bar and drinks there twice and although expensive (come on...it's the Waldorf) the food was good and service at the bar was friendly.
We convinced the piano player one night to play some "fun" songs opposed to the boring stuff he had been playing. :)
The rooms are well appointed and offer all amenities you would think from a 5 star.
My only suggestion is that the employees lighten up a little bit and have some fun. I get that this is a prestigious hotel and all but when people are on vacation it's nice to be greeted with a smile.

Stayed here as part of my round the world trip, just coming off a suite at Conrad in Hong Kong. I wasn't disappointed. The room was normal, but upgraded to a city view. Get one of these because the view is great. Try for a higher floor and you can see St. Peters.

The room is like a junior suite setup. The bathroom was nice and balcony was too. No complaints about the physical part of hotel but be advised of two things:

1. It is far from center of Rome. Easy $12-17 EURO every time i wanted to go into town. I knew this before hand but their shuttle is good if you can live by their time, which isn't too bad.

2. They charge to use the pools. You can swim for free but a lounge chair is $18 EURO per person, per day. I feel that is ridiculous for the price of this hotel.

The wifi is expensive too, but mine was free due to Gold VIP. The breakfast was great too, also free with Gold VIP.

Great hotel if the location doesn't bother you. I kind of liked being away from the hustle and bustle sometimes. I only took a taxi a few times. The shuttle drops you at Piazza Barberini.

I would stay here again.

Our 4 night stay at the Cavalieri was extremely nice. Be aware that the other reviews are true - this is a place could be extremely expensive if not prepared. This is where the rich and famous spend their time and they don't worry about what it costs to stay alive like most of us do. This fact hit us upon arrival when we were sent away from the entrance by an enormous group of security personnel to sit down the street for about 15 minutes so the PM of Isreal could come or go. The place was covered up with Security for two days of our stay so it was probably one of the most secured areas in Rome. We stayed on Hilton Points but had an upgraded city view room on a middle floor that was just fantastic. Our Hilton status got us free use of the pool areas, we were able to use the Hilton Member lounge for free drinks/snacks after our long days walking through Rome, we used the 5 Euro a day parking option and the free shuttle to the city was very nice. The staff was fantastic and extremely helpful. Other Hilton members like us vacationing in Rome clearly stoodout against their normal clients who get to use the real "Executive Lounge" but we never felt treated differently by the staff. We did do two things at the Hotel that I highly recommend;
1) Did a private tour of Vatican arranged by the hotel that was absolutely amazing. The guide was an offical Vatican tour guide employed by the Vatican to tour/escort guests of the Popes. The Private tour of the grounds was the 5 of us truely wandering alone where the Popes have for generations and was completely away from the crowds of tourists. We got to sit alone in places were various Popes regularly sit/sat each morning to gather their thoughts and insperations. The rest of the tour throughout the Public areas of the Vatican was equally as fantastic since the guide was so very knowledgable, friendly, and interacted so very well with us. The guide paid for the cab to us from the hotel to the Vatacan, bought us water to prepare for our walk and refused to even talk to us about a tip at the end of the tour. Absolutely first class all the way.
2) Did dinner at La Pergula on the top floor at 8 pm on our last night. Fantastic food, fantastic service and the view of the city was simply breathtaking. We did Dinner early so we could see the transition from day to night and highly recommend doing it that way. (See seperate review.)
Okay - so both of these events cost a bit of cash but I'm telling you without hesitation that each was absolutely fantastic. We arranged for each several months in advance and the word 'perfect' doesn't capture the quality of our experiences. Our entire stay at the Cavalieri was perfect as well.
