“Memorable Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 September 2011

Stayed 3 nights in August - and wish it could have been longer. I was concerned when we first arrived as we were treated rudely (our rental car was not a Ferrari). Before we could get the back open for our luggage we were told to "hurry up an move". Luckily that stopped when we walked in the hotel - front desk, concierge and housekeeping were very accommodating. We were never made to feel fully welcome when entering the hotel.

The room was what you'd expect of a hotel of this caliber but I really enjoyed the large balcony with live music by the pool every evening and the pillows. If for some reason you didn't like any of the wide variety of pillows on the bed they have a pillow menu available. With the metal enclosure for the patio doors and large mirror barrier beyond the front door we had a completely dark and quite room. If you use these be sure to put in a wake-up call - we overslept and missed a morning tour.

Breakfast was wonderful. If you think there's one thing that they don't have, keep going...we didn't discover the 2nd room of food until the 2nd day. It does take a while to get a drink - or just about anything from a server though.

As a Diamond member I was given full access to the hotel, if you know what the word budget means and you're not hhonors Gold or Diamond, watch for all of the little (and not so little) charges added on. Lounges also have nice views and are fully stocked.

The Views, Food, Pools, Spa and Lounges were spectacular.

Room Tip: Odd number rooms have a city or garden view. If you're not above the 3-4 floor the trees will b...

I stayed here for 2 nights over a weekend in early September, 2011. The hotel itself is beautiful - the lobby, restaurants, pool, grounds, and rooms are amazingly decorated and comfortable. A member of our party of 5 is a Hilton HHonors Diamond-level member so we used points to book our rooms and this gave us access to the pool, gym, spa, and a lounge which otherwise would all have extra fees. The hotel is on a hill across the Tiber from downtown Rome so it has an awesome view of the city, particularly from the 3-Michelin star restaurant on the 9th floor, La Pergola. The one disadvantage of this location is that there is not much within walking distance. Cabs come often and they have a shuttle that takes you to the Piazza Barberini but the shuttle is pretty small and stops running after 8pm. When we returned one afternoon the driver had to leave a few people behind, and their options were to wait an hour or take a cab (which should be about 15-20 Euro). When we left to go to the airport they had a car service readily available that charged a flat fee of 50 Euro which was really nice and convenient. The staff were great and helpful and the hotel itself was pretty but if/when I return to Rome I probably would try to get a hotel downtown.

Room Tip: If you can get a room on the city-side you'll have an amazing view. Otherwise you face a radio...

This is a fantastic hotel!!!! the imperial room is wonderful (even without the rome view), very big and so beautiful with all the comfort you can dream of. The impirial lounge is also a dream, so relaxing and so cosy. Everybody is also so friendly and every thing is so clean.

This was a fabulous hotel with amazing views from most of the rooms. There is acres of land with swimming pools, a fitness centre and impressive restaurants. The breakfast was incredible and very relaxed outdoor option.

The room was great - the walls a little too thin but the overall room was gorgeous. I had a balcony and a wonderful bathroom. The service was great and nothing seemed to be a problem. My dry cleaning came back in 4 hours.

The only issue I had was a 15 minute taxi ride to the city centre as this hotel is a resort and just outside the city. Worth a stay for a great 5 star experience.

The hotel also boasts an art gallery which is nice to spend some wandering around.

This is an excellent hotel and staying there is a uniqie experience! The Hotel is beautiful, alla the personnel is very helpfula nd friendly and of course luxury and service is on top marks. Depending on the price you can find a room for, it ranges from decent to excellent value. Make sure you get a room with breakfast in the price, it is top notch, with excellent quality and huge variety.

All personnel was very helpful. Due to a family health issue we had to leave earlier, but we had a room at a very good rate wich we had pre-paid (that is why we had a low price). Obviously, we could not get a refund, but the dutty manager was helpful and found a solution: alla our extra charges (room service, dinner, etc.) were covered from the payment for the 3 nights, so we did not pay anything extra. Nice gesture....sure I was expecting something like that, but I am fully aware that they were not obliged to do so.

Rooms are very spacious and beautifuly decorated, with excellent soundproofing. Bed is very comfortable and you can choose from many different pillows!

Because it is not in the center of Rome, you have to either use the shuttle bus or take a taxi.

Are there any negatives about the hotel? Of course there are, at least form me. Mainly 2 things:

1. When you pay so much money for a room, I find it ridiculous to charge you 9 Euro per day for WiFi. We live in 2011...it is free even at hotel that cost 1/3 of the price of this one.

2. I agree to charge visitors for using the swimming pool, but to charge the guest 18 Euro per person is very insulting.

3. The HUGE antenna on the back of the hotel, is ugly and I am sure is it note all that safe.

All in all, to summarize:

PROS:
1. Excellent service
2. Room Size
3. Polite and helpful personnel
4. Twice a day turndown service
5. Luxury
6. Shuttle bus (though necessary because of the location)
7. Excellent breakfast
8. Very good restuarants (though expensive)
9. Gardens, view of Rome from the fron rooms.
10. Unique experience

CONS:
1. Charges for using WiFi
2. Charges for using the swimming pool
3. Expensive restaurants and minbar
4. Location (it is nice, but not very convenient)

Room Tip: Definetely get a deal with Breakfast (it is excellent) and if you can afford it get a room with a vi...

This is just a wonderful place combining the comfort of a modern 5 star hotel with the "grandezza" and plush of a traditional Italian hotel. Yes, the architecture of the non-Rome facing side is a bit dull and the view facing the huge antenna is not the most romantic you've ever seen - but, frankly - what hotel can offer spectacular views from each side of the property? And there's always the option to book a city facing room for extra cash. We stayed in a room of the non-Rome facing side on the 6th floor and were absolutely happy with it given the fact that all public areas, the Pergola restaurant and adjacent bar at the 9th floor, the pool and the lush gardens all face Rome and the ancient centre.
We stayed for three nights in early September and the pool proved to be a major advantage. We felt really gifted having the opportunity to relax and re-energize at the pool side in the baking heat of the afternoons after mornings of sightseeing and city discovery. During the hot months we would always prefer the Cavalieri to a centrally located hotel w/o a pool. Plus, it deserves to be mentioned the pool, again, combines the luxurious feel of slightly 60ies inspired "Dolce Vita" with a proper size allowing a decent swim. What remains to be said? Staff is lovely, helpful and quick. The shuttle offers good access to the "Centro Storico" albeit we never used it for getting back to the hotel since it has only one pick up point. The bar at the 9th floor comes with the rare fact of hotel bartenders knowing their trade (the emphasis of this may be due to the fact of having been utterly disappointed of many bartenders in top notch hotels including Claridges in London, the Peninsula and the Felix bar in Hongkong and the Address in Dubai). On the downside? During weekends the pool seems to be very popular with non-hotel guests leading to the fact that it can get a bit crowded and apparently leaving some late-comer hotel guests w/o a sun bed.

Room Tip: If you go for a "Rome View" room make sure you get one in the 5th or 6th floor.
