“A few service irregularities”
Reviewed 11 July 2012

Stayed for three nights with my partner. Overall, we loved it - but as HiltonHonorsGold we did get free access to the Spa and pools, free internet, free breakfast, and free access to a basic lounge which is good for some drinks in the evening on the terrace. If you are not HH Gold or Diamond, internet, breakfast and spa will cost you dearly.

We had booked a standard non-Romeview room, and were accordingly excited about receiving a Deluxe Rome View room, which had the most excellent views over Rome. The other side of the hotel would have meant looking at a TV tower.

Breakfast was opulent but of average quality I find. Great to be able to sit outside by the pool though if it's a nice day for breakfast. Prices throughout the hotel mean that you should avoid coming on a budget to this place - a tea sets you back by about 10 Euros. Accordingly shocked were we by the performance of the lobby bar staff - something that the hotel accepted as not having gone well retrospectively and it made up for it, which is commendable.

Toilet in our bath had a bit of an odour. Newspaper only got to our room on the third morning, after two mornings without. Energy saving light bulbs lay around in some of the remote parts of their grounds, by the looks of them for a while already. etc etc... So a list of minor things denting our experience a little bit, given this is a 5 star property.

Overall, given its fantastic views, the spa/pools and great rooms we will return, however, and hope for our feedback to the management to have helped to stop some of those minor inconsistencies by then.

Room Tip: Rome-view is definitely recommended.

This place exceeded my expectations!!!! Room was ready upon arrival at 8:00am in the morning!! Greeted with freshly squeezed orange juice at check in. Our room was amazing!!! On the 8th floor of the Imperial Rooms. Worth the extra money!! Imperial louge was amazing!! Whatever you wanted whenever you wanted it. Having 3 pools at your disposal in Rome in the summer is a must!! 95 degree days were made more tollerable because we knew we were going back to amazing pools!! Every single staff member we encountered was so friendly!! They couldn't do enough for us!!! Do not let the negative reviews scare you away from this place. It is literally a 10 minuted taxi ride to the center of Rome. I felt that it was a great value for what we received!!! Be sure to check out the spa!!! Even more amazing!!! This has to be one of the best hotels I have stayed in!!!!! To the management you are doing a great job!!!!!!

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a Rome imperial Room

We simply looked for a last minute hotel in Rome with a swimming pool and were really lucky this came up with a great deal at short notice, wasn't sure if the location would work for us as it wasn't in walking distance of centre but it turned out great. Real haven with stunning hill top views and great grounds to stroll in, bathrooms are superb marble and breakfast is best I've had in a hotel - range of home made jams is very impressive. Staff were lovely and gave my kids disposable cameras on arrival and we spent many happy hours listening to the piano ( with a chocolate martini)

A friend and I stayed one night on our way through Rome from Positano. I am a Hilton Diamond member so was greeted cordially. No city view room was available but at least the room on the other side faced away from the ugly cell tower. The room was very pleasant with twin beds and a very upscale bathroom. I was provided free Interent, access to the ground floor lounge and breakfast. That's the good part. Saturday evening around 11pm we decided to go to 9th floor lounge for a night cap, a light meal, and dessert. The small lounge was full the dining room was not. When we entered the dining room which was very empty we were told that it was not possible to eat food without a reservation. Despite the room being empty and the fact that it was 11pm the matre'd assured us that the tables were all reserved. We asked to have one set up that only had a table cloth and were told again not possible. The phrase not possible seemed to be his favorite. I cannot understand a hotel saying this phrase to a guest particularly a diamond member. It was a surreal experience to be in an empty, no doubt pricey hotel dining room and be told that food is not possible. We went down to the lobby pool area where the food is possible but the service isn't. After waiting for 10 minutes we finally asked is someone could serve us. At long last someone arrived took our order and we were able to get a drink and some food. The hotel is lovely to look at and I appreciate being away from the noise of Rome but I wouldn't stay here again nor would I recommend it. A hotel should be flexible to the needs of its guests.

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank you for choosing Rome Cavalieri, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts during your recent visit to the Eternal city and for taking the time to submit a review regarding your stay.

We would like to inform you that indeed advance reservations are required for dining at La Pergola restaurant and unfortunately it is not possible to reassign tables through the evening, being a single service experience, but our other outlets are at our guests' complete disposal whenever they desire.

Looking forward to welcoming you back on a future occasion.

I haven't had a chance to review this place probably because it is OUTSTANDING in all ways. First let me start out by saying that I go to Italy every 12-18months for vacation and have been there over a dozen times now so I will go into details on why you should stay here or not (depending on what you want to do and what you are looking for).

If you are looking for upscale, 1st class all the way = stay here!
If you are looking for something at a reasonable price = ystay here.

If you are looking for great views, quiet atmosphere, good walk or shuttle to town = stay here
If you are looking to be close to everything (walking distance) = don't stay here!

To explain:
This hotel is out the outskirts of Rome, though a nice walk to town doesn't bother me one bit; plus they have a shuttle that takes you to town which is a bonus! Why do I stay here, well I get it for FREE because I save up my Hilton points. If you work it right you can get a room here for not that many points and it is well worth it because:
1) Breakfast is AMAZING...you can get anything and everything you want (and if you are a Hilton member you can get it for FREE)
2) The pool and gym are great...yes I like to work out on vacation and relax by the pool.
3) The service is top notch!
4) The bedrooms have everything you need (amazing beds like at home in the US, heated town racks, TV, etc. etc.)

I have stayed at other hotels in town and if you are looking to be close to everything and to walk everywhere and then back to your room...then this hotel won't get you that.

I usually stay out late and the shuttle has stopped running, but the taxi ride back isn't that bad (depending on how far you are away), but worth paying a taxi ride back.

I could go in more details though I think you get the picture. I will be heading back there for another 4 nights in September and I am sure that it will be just as good as the other 7+ times I have been there...

Enjoy your stay and if you can, stay here; your significant other will love you for it ;)

Room Tip: All rooms are great, though try and get a City View...AMAZING!!

We stayed here in March 2012 and had a great experience, though it started rough. Our bathroom smelt funny but the staff there went out of their way to make it right. We had a great room that overlooked Rome. The rooms were good sized and the facilities were excellent. Another bonus was the shuttle that ran frequently that took you into the heart of Rome throughout the day.
