My stay at the Cavalieri got off to a bad start. I had not brought my passport with me and despite having paid in full online for the room, was told I could not check in without it. I offered my driving licence as proof of ID (which I had used to check in a few days earlier at another Italian hotel) but was told only my passport would suffice. I had to contact someone where I had left my passport on the other side of Rome and call in a BIG favour to ask them to drive across Rome in rush hour traffic to bring me the document. I politely explained to the receptionist that my passport was on its way but I was still not allowed into the room I had paid for and was left waiting in the lobby for over two hours until my passport arrived. Rules may be rules but I expect a bit more class in service from a 5 star hotel. There are many things they could have offered me: complementary drink at the bar, access to the spa while I waited, etc, but nothing - I was just left waiting there.

Once checked in the service was generally very good. The Rome view was spectacular and the room of a very high standard. Spa is amazing. TV reception was poor which again is something very basic for a 5 star hotel to get wrong. Ordered room service. Fish was tasty but over cooked. Fries cost something like 14 euro which is I guess what you expect from a 5 star hotel but they weren't 5 star quality. More like McDonald's. Breakfast was excellent. Overall, enjoyed the experience but not really a 5 star service unfortunately.

Nice hotel, room, people. But choose if the hotel is your destination but not old Rome. They have a shuttle but only runs at best once an hour and tried twice but little shuttle for massive hotel was jammed and people were forced to take taxis. Beautiful up in hills but nothing around it so you must taxi to leave property. Breakfast was 50e per person. Choose based on what your priorities are. It is what it is. Drinks were 19e per cocktail but well worth it within this setting. Beautiful, costly and isolated.

Room Tip: Know what you want and then decide.

Stayed in the Rome Cavalieri in mid January, can only describe the hotel as amazing. Had a room on the 7th floor overlooking Rome, the view was beautiful and the room itself very comfortable. The breakfast downstairs was lovely and had everything you could think of. following this we used the free shuttle into the city, it dropped in a very good location and the driver was fantastic and more than ready to help. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome for the hotel and the fantastic service it provides.

If you are looking for a hotel that doesn't have a gift shop and want to pay 8 Euro for a soda in the mini bar then this is the hotel for you. You will have to pay a very high fee for almost everything else the hotel offers. You are much better staying at a budget hotel that trys harder to providfe value instead of living on their brand reputation.

Though this hotel is a bit away from the sites of Rome it has a specatacular vista overlooking the eternal city and the Vatican (at least from the rooms on the back side). There is a convenient shuttle service that connects with the metro at the "Barberini" stop.

Rooms are luxuriously and opulently appointed - there is even an extra "soundproofing" door to prevent noise in the hall from intruding - and blinds block all outside light.

The Breakfast buffet has something for everyone, vegetarian, lactose intolerant, gluten free diets, etc. Check menu prices for lunch and dinner before ordering, prices are extremely high - at least for a midwestern American.

Room Tip: Get a Rome view room - the front side has a view of a transmission tower.

This was my first time staying at a Waldorf Astoria, but I am not a stranger to the Hilton family of hotels and have stayed at several Conrads. I stayed on the Imperial level which was like being in an art gallery...the sculptures and paintings were magnificent.

I had the pleasure of getting Italian lessons in the re-located Imperial lounge by Beauty from Ecuador..she helped me feel right at home!

The shuttle service provided some ease to getting around in Rome, but it is not as user friendly, simply meaning the times it runs will not always match your touring schedule, so be prepared to pay for a cab if you are in the city past 2100.

The breakfast was superb...no complaints at all...the hostesses were pleasant and very accommodating.

The last part I want to mention is the bath and spa...if you are on the Imperial floor, this service is free which is a HUGE bonus. If you are a Hilton Diamond or Gold..it does not matter, you will not automatically get upgraded to the 7th or 8th floor with is the Imperial floor..you will have to pay to get on these floors per Waldorf Astoria guidelines. The Turkish bath, hot tub pool, sauna and relaxation rooms were all welcomed venues after long days of touring and walking.

If you can afford to stay at the Waldorf then you complaining about money should be minimal...I enjoyed this hotel, the staff was always helpful, and the live music in the evening always provides a genuine touch of class.

Room Tip: Pay the money if you want to access the Imperial lounge and enjoy unlimited spa access. If you are n...

By far the best hotel of the Hilton Chain. This fine hotel offers the best of comfort and service any five star hotel can offer. The hotel is located in one of the seven hills of Rome and is a very comfortable free shuttle ride in a hotel mini bus to the world famous Via Vennetto. I can only associate one hotel with Rome with stunning views of the city. Always ask for a city view room. Thank you to the wonderful staff.
