Yes, the bar itself is cosy and its location steps away from piazza del Popolo is particularly lovely in summer when one can sit in the courtyard. But the service has declined over time and on this latest visit was not worthy of a luxury hotel.
The waiters are clearly uninterested and unprofessional. My son was having a cocktail while waiting for us and when we joined him and ordered two more drinks, I had to ask for the bar snacks (olives and crisps) to go with them. We had three Bloody Marys between us and not one tasted the same or was made to the same proportions.
We did experience the exclusivity of the place secondhand through the rich Russians who sat down at the next table with their shopping bags labeled Gucci, Louboutin and Armani and through the confused elderly woman in a fur coat who asked the waiter to help her make a call on her mobile phone.
A place to see and be seen, if you don't mind paying EUR20 for a badly made cocktail and indifferent service.
