So much history and insight into ancient life in Rome .... this is a great addition to the Colosseum tour... we had paid for the skip the line on our self directed tour of the Colosseum and continued on the Palatine hill, this really ties it all together , I recommend anyone doing this tour to see Palatine hill

I recommend you visit the Colosseum first, then the Arch of Augustus and then Palatine Hill. All are interesting, and if you have a good guide, you will understand the history of this great empire. You will have to spend 4-5 hours for these visits, but it is very interesting. Access to the area of interest is very easy, both by public transport and by foot.

We wemnt alone and wish we had done a tour/ got an app or something as not much was expalined. It was erornmous and unexpected, veiws spectacular and buildings immense. we didnt' go into the museum even, as it was so lovely outside.
Very few toilets , free water, not a lot of shade. lots of walking on uneven surfaces. loved every minute of it.

So much has occurred here over the centuries. I thought this was just a "also ran" part of a coliseum tour, boy was I wrong. This was incredible, every bit as invigorating.

This site is not overly crowded and is worth spending some time visiting. It is very nicely lit up at night. Overall I would recommend adding this site to a visit to the colosseum.
