“Staff Excels at the Albergo del Senato”
Reviewed 14 July 2012

We stayed for one night while our cruise ship was overnight in Civitavecchia. Alessandra was at the front desk as we arrived and she was a gracious/helpful a hostess at any hotel that I have stayed.

The hotel/location were excellent right next to the Pantheon. We had booked late so we just had a basic room without a Pantheon view, but the room was still very comfortable. We had no street noise since we were at the back of the hotel. The rooftop bar was very nice and the drink prices were reasonable for the location and once again great staff.

The buffet breakfast was very elaborate in the morning (hot and cold foods) with a very helpful staff.

It was very hot/humid in Rome so you couldn't walk very far. The Colosseum and the Vatican were a 20-30 minute walk. The Colosseum was too long a walk in the heat during the day so we went first thing in the morning. The Trevi fountain and Piazza Navona were only a 5-10 minute walk. The Spanish Steps were about a 25 minute walk.

The room was expensive for a supposed 3 star hotel, but the experience was worthy of a 5 star hotel so it was worth every cent and I would love to stay there again!

Tripadvisor is always our go to when we book a hotel. There is a reason why the Albergo del Senato is #1, it is truly a wonderful place to stay while in Rome!

We stayed at the Albergo del Senato hotel in June, it was the most amazing place to stay, we booked two rooms, one was a suite overlooking the Pantheon which was a fabulous view, the rooms were well maintained and very clean (could do with replacing the pillows though as they were quite hard), the bathrooms could have been a bit bigger but we managed. The hotel is in walking distance to all the sites, approx 15 mins to the Colosseum. Every day we always went upto the rooftop bar which had a fabulous view over Rome, and the bar man "Marinio" was extremely polite, helpfull and looked after us very well. This was our first ever visit to Rome and we will definately be going back and we would`nt stay in any other hotel other than the Albergo.

A lovely hotel in a great location! Across from the Pantheon and a 10 - 15 minute walk to many sites, including Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain and Spanish steps. Great room, comfortable beds with choice of hard or soft pillows. Breakfast was a nice buffet (fresh pastries, sliced meats, scrambles eggs, cereal, fruit) with coffee or cappucino. A few have commented on noise... here's my two cents: If I was awake, I could at times hear laughter and loud conversations from the street below (room was on first floor and above a street with restaurants). Once I was asleep though, nothing. And the area quieted down by about midnight when I was there. After a busy day walking all over Rome, nothing was nicer than relaxing on the rooftop terrace bar and enjoying the sunset and the lights come on over Rome. I had several friends staying at other hotels in Rome at the same time, and when they saw our location and the rooftop bar, they were all wishing they had stayed here! I would stay again in a heartbeat.

I booked this hotel off tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed. The room was well furnished, clean and well maintained and the bathroom although quite small was lovely. The staff was accomodating and the breakfast was good, we also used the roof top terrace for drinks before dinner and had the best homemade sangria ever. These are all good reasons to stay here but the best reason is for the central location and the view of the Pantheon and of the Piazza della Rotonda, its unbelievable. You are in the center of Rome so most of the sites are within walking distance and there are many reataurants in the Piazza and in the close vicinity. I would not hesitate staying here again when in Rome.

We have visited Rome many times and always stayed at the nearby Hotel Regno, but this time were convinced by family members who love the Albergo del Senato to stay there instead. We had booked a Pantheon view room and were treated to the most beautiful room, one of few with a terrace facing the Pantheon - you could almost reach out and touch it! The only draw back was that I didn't want to leave the room and could have whiled away many hours sitting in the Roman afternoon sun watching the crowds at the Pantheon.

The staff were fantastic - they couldn't do enough to help and were so friendly. They seemed to pride themselves on knowing all of their guests by name. Breakfast was quite extensive although when the hotel is busy it can be difficult to get a table as the room is quite small.

We absolutely loved this hotel, it was a wonderful romantic end to a long European trip in what is my favourite city in the world, and I can only hope to be back at the Albergo del Senato soon.

My reviews always seem to be rave where I stay and eat. All because Tripadvisor ALWAYS leads me in the right direction. Yet again with Albergo del Senato, I was not lead astray. What an amazing location! Right next to the gorgeous Pantheon and the Piazza della Rotonda. More on that later. The service and amenities are certainly a highlight. The receptionists always knew us by name as we walked in, were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and truly had an interest in the you having the best experience possible from room, amenities and activities. Our room (junior sweet on 2nd floor, overlooking Pantheon) was very spacious with, nice Italian decor, a comfy bed (harder than most in US as is normal in Europe), had a wonderful welcome fruit basket, very nice breakfast, and was wonderfully air conditioned!!!!! Three stars is an understatement in my mind. We explored all morning then enjoyed the A/C during peak heat then ventured out again in the evening. Truly in the heart of Rome with so much in easy walking distance (the best way to see the city). very nice 20-30 minute walk to the Colosseum or Spanish Steps, closer to Trevi Fountain. Vatican is walkable, but a bit further. Easy access to amazing the Campo de Fiori. I could go on and on; let’s just say, by walking from Albergo del Senato, we saw the VAST majority of the heart of Rome in just several days’ time and never felt rushed or overwhelmed (We didn't include the Vatican in this trip, however)! Plus walking from here you can see so many wonderful streets, that may even be undeservingly less traveled, with beautiful building and Piazza's and shops and great dining/gelato everywhere. Only minor issue in our room was some noise from the Rotonda (It was the Euro Cup Futbal final that night with Italy vs Spain however), the night prior we noticed no noise. Highly, highly recommend!!!
