We were at the Albergo Del Senato from 2/9 - 2/13. It is exactly as people have reviewed it. I will try and give a little different perspective. I have never been to Rome before so this was wonderful.
First - it was quiet. There are tiny cobblestone streets all around the hotel which keep traffic to a minimum. It is a traffic filled city on the main roads.
Second - Location - you can walk to most of the great sites. We walked to the Trevi Fountain , Spanish Steps, Colosseum, Forum. All within 10 - 20 minutes.
If you walk out of the hotel and make a left (so the pantheon is on your right) you can walk to the first main road and catch the city bus. (The 492 goes right to the Vatican).
Third - Food. If you make a right out of the hotel and take the first street to the right - (2 rights) there are 2 very small excellent restaurants both reviewed highly on Trip Advisor. Antica Trattoria Da Pietro Al Pantheon, Hostaria Di Pastini Pizzeria

We were lucky enough to be staying in the Suite - room 606 I think it was - for our weekend in Rome. The view of the Pantheon was something I will remember for the rest of my life - we could almost reach out and touch it and breakfast on the balcony in the sunshine was the stuff dreams are made of. We wouldn't almost certainly stay here if we were in Rome again, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the location is second to none - we walked everywhere.

Room Tip: Definitely get a room with a view of the Pantheon.

I stayed here a week and would return in a shot. My room was a standard with a view. The view was astonishing. I looked directly out at the huge lettering over the entrance of the Pantheon, and the whole Piazza della Rotonda. If you like views, this will make you very, very happy indeed. The room was thoughtfully equipped, with plenty of closet and drawer space (for a solo traveler; it would be tight for two), a good desk, an armchair, TV, and even an electric kettle and packages of coffee and tea. The bed was a true double bed (one-piece mattress) and was firm and very comfortable. The hotel provided decent feather pillows in addition to pretty stiff ones. There was good lighting in the room. Nightly turndown service (and chocolates) is provided, along with slippers and a bedside foot cloth. The room was not huge, but it was big enough and was excellent value for a standard room. The bathroom was modern, and came with a full tub (which was quite narrow for a bath) and shower with excellent water pressure. There is a lot of room for toiletries (although I did need to put some in the area in the room where the tea kettle is), and the amenities are outstanding. Every towel was always as fluffy as can be and there was a towel warmer. The maids were discreet, prompt, and thorough. In fact, the staff of the hotel is one of its strongest points. Everyone I encountered was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, efficient, and respectful. The breakfasts were served in a pleasant room and were plentiful and good. They typically included fresh fruit, cereals, juices, salume, cheeses, rolls, bread and toaster, scrambled eggs, and bacon. The wonderful trio who attend the breakfast room bring espresso or cappuccino, or whatever you need. A lot about this hotel feels like Rome hotels from earlier decades. There is a refinement to the hotel and the staff, and an understated elegance to the building and the rooms, that is highly appealing and old-fashioned. But, of course, the hotel is totally up to date, complete with free wifi. I learned the hotel is owned by an individual. Hopefully, he will not sell it anytime soon. Two negatives do occur to me. Smoking is allowed in rooms. I learned that one night when I phoned the front desk about the smell of smoking. I was told it is ok to smoke in your room if you wish, although not in the halls. There were nights smoke bothered me so much that I put a towel under the crack of the door. So, that is not good, and it is something the hotel should definitely change given the health dangers, the safety issues, and the fact that almost all hotels in the world ban smoking. Secondly, the plumbing is noisy, and I could hear through bathroom walls. Strange given the thick walls, but that was the case. The building was built in the mid-1800s and so stands out amidst the other buildings around there, which are much older, and, of course, the super-old Pantheon. It is nicely painted on the outside and has lots of wood and well-polished brass inside. There are several sitting areas, including a nice little bar. There is also a great terrace with tables and chairs, and a rooftop 360-degree view of Rome. In addition to standard rooms, the hotel has larger rooms with larger windows and even balconies, and two suites. This is a great hotel.

The location was right on the piazza in front of the Pantheon. It was easy to get everywhere. There is a cab stand right next to the Pantheon for easy access.

The proximity to the Pantheon made it easy to find if you get lost easily in Rome. I do.

Awesome staff! Very charming hotel.

I visited the Albergo Del Senato for 4 days/3 nights in December 2012. I have to start with the most amazing aspects of the Albergo Del Senato. The service is ALWAYS accommodating, friendly and effective. There is no question I posed that they did not drop what they were doing, smile and answer with 100% effectveness. And their restaurant recommendations are superb. The location can't be beat on the side of the Pantheon which is central to all anyone would want to see and experience in Rome (or ready access via taxi and metro). The rooms are good--standard basically but who stays in a hotel room in Rome anyways? The public areas are spotless and regal. The continental breakfast is better than most in Europe. And Luciano, the young front desk manager is out of a GQ magazine. Would I stay here again personally? YES of course. Would I stay here for business? YES of course! Would I move to the Albergo for a few months or years? YES of course!

Room Tip: Be sure to select a room on the inner courtyard for quietness.

Albergo de Senato is a little gem of a hotel in the same square as the Pantheon in Rome. My wife and I recently spent 5 nights in a great room on the fourth floor which looked down on the Pantheon. The bed was firm and comfortable. Breakfast was included and comprised a good selection of cereals, juices, eggs, cheeses, cold meat, cakes and coffee. The staff, especially Mauro and Luciano, were fantastic. Their restaurant recommendations proved to be the best meals we had during 2 weeks in Italy. The free Wifi worked well although it was irritating to have to enter the password everytime we wanted access. The location is very convenient and we were able to walk to all the places we wanted to see. Given its prime location space is at a premium so the rooms are on the small side.
