“A first class hotel, as good as ever.”

We have just had yet another wonderful experience staying at the Albergo Del Senato in Rome's historic city centre. We travel quite a lot in southern Europe (France and Italy mostly). This is by far the best hotel in which we have stayed, and this was our second time to visit it. The staff make any hotel, and those in the Albergo are second to none, professionally and expertly led by Mauro. Charming, genuinely concerned to ensure that you enjoy your stay, multi-lingual - but willing gently to help me with my very rudimentary italian! - and always helpful with any advice requested - they know the best restaurants and are quick to tell you where they are. The accommodation generally is of extremely high quality, very elegant in character - beautifully maintained, expertly managed and always spotless. Our 4th floor bedroom was perfect for us, very well equipped with a comfortable bed, TV with many international channels including BBC World and CNBC, a luxurious bathroom with both bath and shower, and had a magnificent view of the Pantheon itself and the adjoining Piazza, where the buzz was terrific all day - you really know you are in the lively and living heart of Rome! The room was prepared with meticulous care each evening, making it very welcoming for us two tired guests. Breakfast, as others have reported, is all that one could possibly want for or need, served in a delightful Breakfast Room and very extensive, the choice extensive and all of the best of quality. Altogether this is an excellent hotel and well worth the money. We heartily recommend it and will be returning to it on our next trip to the Eternal City.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Piazza, they are very well soundproofed but give a wonderful view over a l...

My wife and I stayed here for four nights and were very impressed with the location and the staff. All of the staff, from reception to back of house were very efficient and extremely helpful. Maid service was excellent despite never seeing her!

The location is in the Storico Centro which means you are ideally located for the majority of sites. I'm in my sixties and it was only a 10-15 min walk to Vatican City to the west, about 15 mins to the Colesseo in the south and 5 mins to Trevi to the east. The Pantheon being on the doorstep! Needless to say there are many restaurants nearby. The downside of the location is that with narrow streets transport is difficult so taxi is best choice and tourists abound. However, we found April to be almost perfect with warm temperatures but not too crowded.

My disappointment in the hotel rested solely on the bed or rather being unable to rest on the bed. The mattress I found very firm and, as such, not really supportive resulting in a stiff back and poor sleep. It felt more like camping than staying in a quality hotel. However, I note a tendency fr hotels to use such beds so maybe it is just me?.

Although it wasn't the biggest room, and the air con wasn't quite in-season, although still the temperature was fine, the location was right in the heart of Rome, the staff where extremely nice, showing us to all sorts of great Resteraunts and places, and most of all: UNLIMITED BACON AT BREAKFAST! The wifi was accessible and fast, you get free slippers and shampoo/conditioner, the cleaning was perfect and daily and the bar/resteraunt was delicious! The TV had many sports/italian/english channels. As a child (14 years old) this hotel was fun and accessible - I can't comment on the price but i'm sure that it's better than most of the other fancy hotels I saw! Although there was no pool, there was a nice bar on the roof.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front have a good view, but the ones on the right hand side is very noisy.

Having never been to Rome I went through many TA reviews to decide which area to stay in. Location if very important to us. The Albergo del Senato has a wonderful location - right on the beautiful square by the Panthenon! (However I wonder if this would be a little less appealing in summer when crowds are huge?) We could walk to just about all the major attractions and had our choice of tons of restaurants nearby. The staff here are very helpful and available (although we weren't thrilled with one or two of their recommendations) The rooms are clean, traditional and typically Italian. Little small (there were 3 of us in a triple) but my understanding is all rooms are small in Rome? Breakfast was wonderful too! Worth spending a little extra for. One note on finding restaurants - the restauranteurs can be very pushy and stand on the street trying to pull you in - resist this and look at menus etc, before deciding. We were turned off by the pushiest and had our best meals where they didn't drag you in!

Room Tip: If you want a view of the Panthenon you would need to request - "alley view rooms" were ju...

Centrally located next door to the Pantheon, this hotel provides a really good location to explore Rome. From the Hotel, its around a 40 min-1hr walk to the Vatican Museum (the entrance is at the back of the Vatican) and 30-40 mins to the Coliseum. The Trevi Fountain is also a short stroll away, at around 15-20 mins. Plenty of options to eat, outside the front door at up the many side streets. The Luca and the rest of the staff on the front desk did all they can to make our stay comfortable. Be warned however, if you're looking for an early night and a nice quite sleep then then don't get a room with a view - you're n the Piazza right outside the Pantheon, which is a bustling tourist thoroughfare right through into the night. If you're partying with the rest until late, then go for it and soak up the great view.

I stayed here for 9 nites and was sad to leave..I travel frequently and one thing that makes or breaks the trip is your digs..this hotel is like the old cruise ships use to be. I never saw the maid and she was in the room 3 times a day they have some sort of electronic thing going on with your room key and she doesn't come around when you are in your room. Linens and towels were changed daily and fresh as a daisy room was clean as a whistle and I had a view of the Pantheon from my bathroom and bedroom. Front desk people were all multi- lingual and bent over backwards to help you with anything. the free breakfast was great and all you needed and when you step outside you realize that it would have cost you at least 20 euro per person. We also used the pick-up service fro the airport very reasonable at 55 euro and in a new Mercedes by a friendly driver

The best thing about this hotel is the location - 20 minutes of walking to everywhere you need...
There biggest problem is how to get there - there is no metro station that close, and walking with bags after a long flight it's not the best idea.... so we used the hotel taxi service (55 euros) on both ways.
The rooms are clean and pretty... the stuff are very nice and helpful, there are very good restaurants around.
My girlfriend didn't like the "OLD" design - but I liked it...
The breakfast was very good!!

Room Tip: ask for a window to the panthoon
