As has been said many times, this is the best location in Rome. The real purpose of this review is to give you the information you need to decide “Is this the right hotel for you?”

The building is very old and has all the charm you would expect from an old building. To maintain such an old building requires some extraordinary service. Fortunately, the Senato staff is up to the challenge. We stayed in the Junior Apartment Suite. It consisted of a bedroom, bathroom, hallway (really more of a sitting room with couch/table/two chairs) and a living room. We could have easily fit 5 or 6 people, with all the couches. We had a small balcony overlooking the roof tops. It seems that only the fifth floor does not overlook the Pantheon. No worries, as the view was quaint and the room was exactly what we needed.

The furnishings were not your usual hotel items, but typical for Rome décor and in excellent condition. The various room photos are accurate and there are no unpleasant surprises. They could easily be referred to as boutique décor. The amenities were all comparable to a boutique type setting, other than very poor wifi. As with many European tub/showers, no curtain and merely a little glass wall. Don’t expect a USA hotel type interior. Instead, be prepared for a high quality unique experience that gives you the feeling of Rome.

The complimentary breakfast is eggs, bacon, pastries, juices, fruit, etc. Since the hotel is small, the breakfast room is intimate with servers at your immediate call. No lunch or breakfast served, but you can get an afternoon tea. They could have served lunch, but we were gone every day and did not notice.

The item that makes this hotel outstanding is the service. The bellman, the front desk, waiters, etc. were friendly, quick to respond and did everything you asked. Most knew us by name and were always happy to greet us. My wife celebrated a birthday and the staff made special arrangements for a surprise in our room. I will not elaborate, in case you want the surprise. The roof top terrace was Romantic and gave an exclusivity to the hotel, as it overlooked the Pantheon. The intimate attention to detail made the Senato service beyond duplication in a chain of any level. I could not find a flaw with the service and the hotel was immaculate as a result.

At first I was going to give the Senato a 4 star rating, because it has no gym, parking, dinner or food room service. Then I was walking the streets our last night and said to myself “you have got to be kidding me.” It is not a Conrad Hilton, JW Marriott, Peninsula, etc…. it is better. After walking the cobble stone streets of Rome, eating under an umbrella and visiting the Trevi Fountain at night, I could not have imaged walking into a chain, even a Peninsula or Four Seasons. The only place worth ending an evening in Rome is the Senato. The Senato is the definition of Rome. To stay anywhere else would take away from the Roman experience. Yet, it is luxury, merely a different type of luxury.

The old saying “When in Rome… do as the Romans”…can only be accomplished by staying at the Senato.” Thank you for a wonderful experience.

I stayed at this hotel recently based on the reviews I read on here and I was not disappointed.

By personal preference I consider the area around the Pantheon by far the best part of the city to stay in (proximity to attractions, as well as some of the best coffee shops and restaurants in the city) and of course this hotel is as good as it gets in that respect.

The staff were excellent, especially Mauro who was a delight to chat with, and the hotel overall was great for the price. The bed, being two singles crammed together to make a double, and the shower, being tiny, were compromises I was willing to make for the location and value.

Overall I had a wonderful experience staying there and plan to do so again on my next visit.

There is no better location in Rome -- central to almost everything. The facility itself was spotless and well designed. The roof top patio/bar was a great place to unwind after walking around all day. Other reviewers have captured the qualities of the hotel well, but did want to mention how professional, helpful and just plain nice the staff are -- front desk, housekeeping and the breakfast servers, all excellent. If/when we go back to Rome we will certainly try to stay here again.

Room Tip: Facing the piazza, third floor or higher

We went on holiday expecting one room and a bathroom and got a mini apartment with walk in wardrobes and luxurious beds. Our breakfast was delicious and they made a good choice of food products. We couldn't have made a better choice on hotel (view of 8 year old daughter)
We chose this hotel as a special treat for a birthday trip and the extra cost was well worth it. The location was amazing, and our room (402) had a breath-taking view of the Pantheon. The accommodation was spacious and luxurious and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast had something for everyone. We had a really special holiday and the hotel was the icing on the cake.

Stayed here over Christmas. The location is sensational overlooking the Pantheon from our bedroom window. Front desk staff are 5 star, remembering our name from the first day. Rooms are good by european standards not overly spacious but more than adequate and very clean. Breakfast is included and decent enough to start your day. Walking distance to lots of places, including a zillion restaurants, and could always find a cab across the square.

Location, location, location!

This Hotel was a real treat, the location could not be faulted. Within a few yards of the Pantheon, and walking distance of the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, just 25 minutes walk to St Peters and the Colosseum. This was my wife's 50th birthday, and well worth the extra expense. we were in room 307, this was spotlessly clean, compact but all we needed, with dressing gowns, slippers, etc.. and a fantastic view of the Pantheon with dual aspect. The room appeared recently furnished to a high standard. Breakfast was good, a help yourself buffet, with hot and cold foods. On the last day we were a little later than usual at 0930, and this was a busy period. the hotel has a pleasant roof terrace, with lovely views of the Pantheon and across to St Peters. On my wife's Birthday we were greeted with a free drink at the terrace bar.
WOULD I GO BACK............ YES !!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for an upgraded room with a view of the Pantheon, it's worth it, our room was very well soun...

Just left this hotel and can't stop raving about it. The location is as good as you could possibly want with the major Rome attractions all with walking distances. Make sure to request a room that fronts on the Pantheon because your window will literally open right up into the piazza in front of it. Amazing. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were all pleasant and helpful and spoke great English. The only downside was that we needed 2 rooms for our family of 4, but it was worth evert penny. Go to the rooftop bar at sunset, it's worth it.
