This is was our 9th stay in five years and the owners and staff do a remarkable job maintaining a consistently high level of quality and service.

The location can not be topped in Rome; the staff is courteous, friendly, and professional; the rooms and lobby are really better than three stars; the breakfast is first rate (with the hardest working servers in Italy); cleanliness pervades.

So, what is this "curse of TripAdvisor"?

The high rating has led, over the years, to a situation the hotel can not control -- booring guests.

Each morning (4) the breakfast room was populated with guests looking like they had just rolled out of bed (grooming and dress) shouting to each other -- both at the same table and across the room! They were routinely rude to the the staff (who reacted with grace) and treated the buffet like a $5 Denny's, all-you-can-eat breakfast.

This behavior continued to the rooms where there was much shouting in the corridors at all hours (probably 'normal' talking voices for them) and a particularly nasty family next door who's children carried on each night to well after 2300.

While we will be back, I am not sure what management can do about the effects of this "popularization" of the Albergo del Senato or -- how long can they keep up the ambiance of this great hotel under a sustained 'assault'.

Nothing short of fabulous! We were in room 106 with an amazing and unforgettable view of the Pantheon and square. Too good to be true, the roof top bar was a must for us every evening at sunset... Views of the the whole city. Hotel is within walking distance of almost everything there is to see, eat, and shop. The staff were kind, sincere, and helpful. The rooms were adequate size with nice hardwood floors and marble bath. It was a little noisy at night on the square until midnight, but the windows and curtains blocked all noise. Until then, we enjoyed the free live music wafting in from the performers. Breakfast was very good in a gorgeous setting. We won't stay anywhere else in Rome!

Room Tip: Room 106 had view of Pantheon.

Our recent three day visit to Rome was highlighted by the hotel and it's location. Every time we looked out our room window to the view of the Pantheon and the Piazza we had to pinch ourselves to make sure we were not dreaming. To think the historical Pantheon was a 30 second walk from the hotel was amazing. The staff were accommodating, the breakfast was sufficient, the roof top terrace bar was a treat. There was a good selection of restaurants within the piazza to choose from and didn't have to go far for some local shopping. We would definitely return.

Our stay here was fabulous. The location in the square by the Pantheon was trully perfect. Our room was also perfect with a balcony opening onto the square. The staff here are especially helpful and very professional. The roof terrace bar is a great place to wind down the day and have some wine and visit with others. The breakfast each morning was excellent. The hotel is located in easy walking distance of many of the sites you would like to see. I will definitely be back to stay here.

Room Tip: Try to get room 604. This room has balconey that opens onto the square

Booked this hotel based on reviews and location. It was the end of a perfect Italy trip but our experience at this hotel was a bit different than the reviews. When we arrived we were excited to have a drink on the rooftop. The bartender proceeded to tell us how he was the only one working and he is doing everything at the hotel....not what we wanted or should of heard. We didn't even finish our drink as his attitude and also the flock of pigeons were very unpleasant.
Our door kept remaining open (they have an unusual key system) which meant we had to wait until a maintenance person could fix it so we spend a good amount of our few days in room waiting to leave or enter our room. It was very frustrating but the worst part was the attitude of the front desk. They could of cared less.....finally I spotted a gentleman who I thought was the manager (Lucca) told him our story he did apologize and sent a bottle of Prosceco.
Bottom line....Great location but we would not go back because of the lack of customer service

We arrived to a fabulous welcome from staff at the front desk (the majority of staff were sincere and extremely helpful). A visit to the rooftop bar was a lovely way to start the visit. Great location, would definitely stay in this area again.

Pros: location, staff, service, atmosphere

Cons: breakfast was ordinary, waiting staff seemed overworked at peak times on the weekend (had to request milk and spoons for cereal on several occasions). Wireless worked intermittently. No hotel umbrellas. You pay a premium for location.

Room Tip: Nice to have a view of the Pantheon but not a deal breaker - it is likely you will be out exploring...

We stayed at the Albergo Del Senato mid September for 3 nights before going off to Sorrento on a holiday to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. It was recommended by a friend and having read the reviews we booked it - we were not disappointed in any way at all. As recommended we booked a room on the sixth floor with a terrace and views over the Pantheon and square. More expensive but definitely worth the extra cost. The hotel was immaculate, the staff knowledgeable, polite and cheerful. The breakfast was excellent, buffet style but the variety was excellent. Although the dining room is fairly small it all worked well. The roof terrace Bar is not be to missed. As the weather was fabulous we sat up there every evening from approx. 5.30pm and sat and watched the people on Pantheon Square and the Sunset with a bottle or two of wine before going out to supper. The Location of the hotel is outstanding directly in front of the Pantheon with cafes and restaurants and within walking distance of most of the sites, The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps, churches and Museums. We did get a taxi to Vatican City as its further out.
We would definitely stay again and again and again.

Room Tip: Sixth floor front facing
