“Great hotel, great location”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

We really enjoyed our time at Albergo del Senato. For the view of the Pantheon alone it's an amazing place to stop, it really is an incredible building just feet away from the front of the hotel. There are lots of other positives about this place too. Location is perfectly situated for many of the main attractions, we were able to walk to all of them. The area is full of good restaurants, bars and shops.

We stopped in room 305, front facing and overlooking the Pantheon, and while the Piazza is busy, the windows do a great job of cancelling out the noise in the square, so you can enjoy the atmosphere of it but also get some peace and quiet during the day. The room was quite small, difficult to move around at times, but as we didn't spend long in the room that wasn't a real issue. One negative about the room was that the air conditioning was broken for our stay of 4 nights, although they were able to provide us with a fan initially and upgraded us to a senior suite on the last night as an apology, so that was really appreciated and more than made up for it.

All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, particularly Luca and Mauro. The hotel was always immaculate, breakfast was always lovely. I don't have a bad thing to say about it and would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: It's been said before, get a room at the front for some amazing views of the Pantheon.

Literally overlooking the Pantheon and adjacent busy piazza - friendly and helpful hotel staff - nicely appointed rooms. Have the window open to hear all the fun & action on the piazza below or shut it closed for some peace & quiet. Perfect couple of nights in Rome with the family.

Great location, small rooms, helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again. If you book the Vatican tour through the desk, ask a lot of questions. The price came down and the perks went up the more questions we asked.

This hotel has risen by word of mouth and the well deserved, I say. My family considers this a necessary stop whenever we are visiting Italy. All I can say is that the service has only gotten better with time. We just completed our fifth or sixth stay here and find it at the best of all locations to experience the energy of Rome from. Mauro was very welcoming and delightful.

Room Tip: Always ask for a room facing the Pantheon, some of the angles are steep but quite amazing considerin...

We stayed in this hotel for six nights in April 2014. We had a sixth floor superior double room with balcony overlooking the Pantheon. We were disappointed. We paid for a luxury room, but got a very small, stuffy, and noisy room. We had no air conditioning for the first two days. The front desk advised air conditioning was not scheduled to be turned on for a few days...??? The bathroom was also very small, and it was nearly impossible to shower without spraying water all over the floor. The street noise was unbearable. Every day street performers set up in the piazza in front of the hotel and play various instruments. The most annoying was the electric guitar players. This went on every day from around 10:00 AM until dark. I would strongly suggest staying at a Hotel away from any major piazza to avoid the street noise. There are some nice Hotels just behind the Pantheon with the same convenience to the historic district which enjoy peace and quiet.

This hotel was perfect! Great location, great staff and great service. Whilst it's not a big plush 5 star hotel it is the ideal base for a visit to Rome and The Pantheon is right outside. From this hotel you can walk to all the sights including The Colleseum & Vatican City. Can't fault the hotel and will definitely stay here again.

I am a long time tripadvisor user and reviewer and find this resource great. However, this time I was lead astray. This hotel is a 2 to 3 star tourist trap hiding as a 4 star impersonator. The room was tiny, stuffy, very expensive, worn out, noisy, and just plain awful. The street noise compounded the really terrible room. The flooring was last redone 30 years ago, the bed cover was literally falling apart. No AC and with the unbearable street noise you either lived without air or without sanity. We asked politely to move especially since we were paying top dollar. The staff person politely told us to drop dead. Breakfast OK. Very tough to get to for the taxis. Really nothing to recommend here. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere, anywhere else.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

DelSenato, Manager at Albergo del Senato, responded to this review, 18 April 2014
Dear Sir / Madame,
We do thank you and all other guests who take their time to write a review, which helps us to improve the service and quality in our hotel.

We have finished to refurbish our first floor completely 2 days ago and will finish with the second floor the next year. The second floor is the only part of the hotel which still has to be refurbished even if it has been refreshed the last year and in any way, tha last time it was refurbished was less then 15 years ago.

Furthermore I would like to inform all our future guests that we do have the aircondition working since the second week in April this year and usually it's working until the end of October / beginning of November. The last years we do not have any autumn or spring any more and the temperature changes radically from day to day. To convert from heather to aircond or conversely may result that for some days the conditioning system won’t work due to the necessity to overhaul the system.

At the end, as a hotel situated in the historical center of Rome with a lot of narrow one way streets, it may seem a long way in taxi but you can drive up by the entrance whithout any problem. The area is not a very busy aera but more a walking area with several pedestrian zones. Make attention that if coming with your own car the hotel is situated in an allowed limited traffic zone. For information, do contact us directly.

Personally I beg your pardon if some of our staff addressed in a way not appropriate and as you can read in mostly of our guests comment it’s not our behaviour.

With Kind Regards

Ann Johansson
