Owner description: No one knows for sure what the meaning is behind this fountain, an intriguing baroque statue of a large half-sunken ship that spouts water.

If you are visiting the Spanish Steps then you cannot miss the Barcaccia Fountain, nice photo opportunity but try and get there early morning when its not so crowded.

The fountain itself is kept very clean and we saw the locals drink some of the fresh water coming out!

If you like fountains then come to Rome. Although not the most dramatic in the city this fountain is charming and you'll not be disappointed

Eveyone's experience of Rome is completely different and whilst there are plenty of fountains around Rome, this was a really refreshing site. Consider walking almost everyone and finally walking down the spanish steps and seeing this beautiful little fountain, close enough to sit next to and feel the sprinkling of water on your face.

Its not a must be, but is a pleasant site in Rome.

The Barcaccia Fountain is at the bottom of the Spanish Steps, in the Piazza della Spagna. The fountain was sculpted by Bernini to comemorate the ending of a flood. The lower part of the fountain is eroded by the tourists who wanted to touch the fountain and to take a picture, so, be careful, because it can be slippery.
