Owner description: Poets Keats and Shelley were regular patrons of this popular café, where the view from the outside is not nearly as expensive as the coffee served within.

This coffee shop definitely gives the feel of an old Italian coffee shop. It's as if you expect a prominent Italian 'famoso', politician or even maffioso to enter at any moment. Maybe this feel is achieved because of its positioning in Via Condotti, a street famous for its designer shops and rich creme de la creme shoppers.

Most people who give bad ratings to this venerable establishment are caught by surprise that sitting down at an exclusive cafe will cost more than usual. But the same is true in many places across the world. My advice is to have a cup of espresso or cappuccino while standing at the bar in the front room - it will not cost you more than anywhere else - 1 euro for an espresso! And then enjoy the beautiful decor by walking through the cafe. Coffee is served with a tiny coffee bean candy. We bought a small package of them for 7 euros - a bit expensive, but a nice souvenir when serving coffee at home.

We walked into this place in search of a coffee and naturally ordered two cappuccino's without looking at the menu. When we did look at the menu we saw they were 8 Euro each! 16 Euro for two coffees! Where I am from that's $25 Australian dollars. What made the experience worse was the poor customer service. The man who served us was out right rude, he was wearing a tuxedo so probably thought we were peasants. Will never go back again.

If you're making your way along the via Condotti between the Corso and the Spanish Steps, you can stop in here for a coffee and a snack. Do like the locals and stand at the bar, and you'll pay the Roman price of €4 for a coffee and sandwich. No windows - no view- local landmark with quite ancient decor.

When I go to Rome, one of the places I always visit is the Antico Caffé Greco. It has become a ritual to go to this lovely Caffé, full of history and stories, to enjoy a cappuccino with delicious Italian desserts and, in my case, to sip their special drink, most suggestively named ‘Paradiso”. It is really nice to stay there, observing people while resting from walks through the charming streets of Rome, where you find so many attractions, wherever you look at.
The Antico Caffé Greco is located at the elegant and famous Via Condotti.
