“A great hotel BUT note the following!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 February 2014

I was tempted to give this place 4 /5 but for certain reasons, have downgraded it to 3/5.

Let's start with the POSITIVES:

1. The hotel staff is very warm and friendly. We were mostly attended to by a man named Leonardo who was very sweet. They all spoke good English and they even have a porter to carry your luggage.

2. We checked out at 11 AM on 3 February but our flight was not until late evening so we left the luggage behind at the hotel premises and it was perfectly safe to do so and very professionally managed.

3. The location could not be better- with the Pantheon a 30 sec walk away and most of the attractions of Old Rome within walking distance- this hotel has a lot to offer.

4. The bathroom was clean and reasonably spacious.

Now the NEGATIVES,

1. We were in the annex building and not in the main one and in the annex region- there is no wifi at all!! It's not as though you can pay and get access to wifi- they just don;t offer it.

2. THE KETTLE IN THE ROOM AND THE JAR FOR MILK WAS STINKING- MORE LIKE STENCH!!! I have attached a picture for you to judge. When we mentioned this to the receptionist- he promised to get it changed. In all fairness, while he did get the kettle washed- the smell was still there and it would be deadly to use that kettle for human consumption.

3. The breakfast is strictly average. Don't expect a great meal- it gives the impression that there are plenty of items to choose from but in reality it is just about ok. If you do not have great expectations, then you are ok.

Room Tip: It is slightly noisy to stay right next to the Pantheon so bear that in mind. We went in low tourist...

This hotel was one of the best I've ever stayed at. The front desk staff were so friendly, the room was comfortable and clean, the location CANNOT be beat and it's surprisingly quiet. It was walking distance to everything you could possibly want. I booked directly through the hotel and received 10% off my total.

My wife and I spent 6 nights at this hotel in September, 2013 for our first trip to Rome. The hotel is located right on the Piazza della Rotonda, literally steps from the Pantheon. We stayed in room 220, which was as quiet as a tomb all night, every night. Not once were were disturbed by the continual party on the Piazza. The area was full of people all day and night: everyone having a great time, eating at the cafes and restaurants surrounding the piazza and the lovely sidestreets in the area. What a marvelous area. The hotel was clean, quiet and the staff were really nice. We ate our breakfast there every morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location of the hotel was perfect, central to everything. We could walk almost anywhere, and when we got lazy, the taxi rank was on the other side of the piazza, right next to the Pantheon. You can find cheaper places to stay, but not nicer, in our opinion. When we come back to Rome, this is where we will stay.

We recently stayed at this hotel and we were in the family suite in the annexe building. We were so happy with the whole suite, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, dining and lounge room and a balcony directly opposite the pantheon. All very modern and comfortable. The breakfast in the main building was delicious and a great start to the day. We had 4 nights in Rome but wished it could have been more. A perfect hotel in an exceptional location.

This little hidden gem is so hidden that you most likely will miss it, unless you happen to find it here on TripAdvisor. We were lucky enough to find it by just going down to my favorite area in Rome and walking around and we walked in and were lucky that they had a suite available in their building kitty corner to their main hotel. I will post photos of the view. It is truly amazing. We felt like we were in a dream. We had the "family" suite with 3 bedrooms. It was oozing with character and charm of the old world. In fact the main hotel boasts that it is indeed the oldest in Rome! Formerly a brothel until the Pope shut it down hundreds of years ago, or so the story goes as told by our waiter at one of the many excellent restaurants below to the hotel in the piazza.

At any rate, this hotel was an absolute find! We would definitely go again next time we are in Rome. It's right opposite the Pantheon and it's surrounded by excellent restaurants and authentic gelato ice cream stands.

The best part of all for me was that my children felt safe to walk around as this is a pedestrian only area, and only police and official cars are occasionally allowed to pass through.

The hot August nights with the accordion players singing and my girls dancing on the cobble stone streets, will never be forgotten.

The hotel is within walking distance to the Fountain De Trevi, Spanish Steps, and much, much more. It is right in the heart of old town Rome. The shopping and restaurants are right there and all around down the blocks surrounding the hotel.

This truly is a hidden gem. Trust me, if you prefer charm and character over modern.. this is a must!

Room Tip: Get the family suite in the building across from the main hotel.

This is such a great hotel! On our second trip to Rome, we knew we ad to come back to Albergo del Sole Al Pantheon! The second time was just as wonderful as the first time! In fact, this stay we had a view of the Pantheon right from our window! You cannot beat that, or the location, or the service! I would highly recommend this hotel for anybody traveling to Rome.

Room Tip: We have stayed twice, both times our rooms were steps from the Pantheon. The second stay we had a v...

We stayed here in February 2013 and found the hotel to be excellent value for Rome as everything is a bit pricey, However you really do get a hotel in the perfect location, we had a family room/apartment which was very impressive, the staff were exceptional from check in to check out, And a must is the view from the Roof top terrace it's amazing.
