We actually stumbled upon this church on accident and decided to go inside and I do not regret it because the interior is exquisite.

This is a lovely church, tucked away close to Termini. You shouldn't miss it, the ceiling is amazing!

We had been catching the hop on hop off bus across the street and decided to check it out on a rainy day. Once you walk in, it is breathtaking. Give yourself some time... I made the mistake of sitting down to just take it all in and didn't notice the people. Well, mass was starting. I didn't want to be rude, so I stayed. Everything in there is just so beautiful. Several hop on hop off buses have a stop right there, make sure you allow some time to go inside. You will not be disappointed.

worth the walk to arrive here and put some euros in the box to light up the upper mosaics for several minutes. The colours are superb. Go down into the crypt too and do not forget to look at the gorgeous marble floor patterns. A gem that should be on the top ten attractions of Rome. It is open all day too!!

This Basilica is absolutely beautiful, once you visit it your never forget it , its beauty will stick with you forever, as will the legend attached to this church- the legend of the snow-in 356 the virgin appeared to pope Liberius and told him to build a church on a site to be marked by the fall of snow. Even though it was August snow fell on the Esquiline, and so plans were made to build a church on the spot. The miracle is celebrate each year on 5th aug when showers of white rose petals fall down on the congregation representing the snow.
The 5C mosaics in the nave and on the chancel arch are amazing- they show scenes from the old and new testament.
Everything about this basilica is stunning put it on your "to do list" making sure you don't miss out the underground museum here, its worth it.
