“Oh holy god.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

i'm an atheist, i don't shout about it, Going to the Vatican was not too high on my to do list while in rome.

I like getting up early in the mornings on holidays and slipping out to see the real city while others sleep.

this time the good wife woke and wanted to go with me, so 8am off we went for a walk, seen this big building, had to know what it was, some place.

If you have the opportunity go and see it, go up to the main pulpit, you can go down below the alter and at the back there is a picture in the distance, very erie, it's some place.

“Stunning and beautiful church”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

This is a stunning church near to Termini station in Rome. The exterior looks impressive, but the inside is astonishing in the beauty of its decoration, including the ceiling which supposedly is covered with the first gold Columbus brought back from the New World!

We were lucky to be present earlier in the week for the ceremony held outside the church on the 5th August, celebrating the legend of snow falling on the hill and leading to the church being built. Worth seeing for the artificial snow fall!

Very beautiful and for 12 euros good value for money to see the museum, crypt and basilica. Reached it from the hop on hop off bus which was really good.

I love this church, it is my favourite in Rome, the paintings and monuments in the cathederal are stunning, I will certainly be back on my next visit to Rome.

“Inspirational !”

A beautiful basilica not far from our hotel. Not as crowded !along it a !ore serene experience. I happened to visit as the cardinal celebrated mass.

If you ever encounter such a situation, I highly recommend taking a deep breath, discard your tourist cap, and soak up the experience. It is truly a soul calming experience. You will exit the basilica rejuvenated.
