“Interesting with audio guide”
Reviewed 9 November 2013

We used the Omnia card audio guide services which brought it to life. A shame you had to pay extra for the cloisters (which we did not).

“Don't miss this church”
Reviewed 8 November 2013

Everyone goes to St Peters but if in Rome make sure you get to Saint Johns in Laterano. It is right off the Red line metro and is well worth the visit. You will find a grand church with fewer visitors and a much more peaceful experience in a palatial atmosphere.

“Wonderful church”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

The rain subsided as we headed for the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, one of the largest in Roma. This is a beautiful church, filled with ornate decorations and many religious artifacts. We learned about the jubilee years which happen every 25 years and saw the lovely doors that are only opened for this occasion. Next one happens in 2015.

“a most interesting church in a city that has so many”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

An amazing basilica in a city that boasts almost innumerable other churches. The whole history of the Papacy is encapsulated in this church with its many different styles. The cloisters are very much worth a visit, as is the nearby Scala Santa, where the faithful have to climb the staircase on their knees.
