The Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano is located in Piazza San Giovanni and is not the only tourist destination to visit in that area. Porta San Giovanni, the Obelisk, another little chapel, all worth visiting. At the entrance to the basilica there is a security check, which is very good. The statues inside the church are monumental. Everything is very beautiful.

Beautiful structure and a most stop for any Christian for one reason. In this church you will find the steps that Jesus walked on when he was brought in front of Pilate. Moving experience as you climb the steps on your knees and for me it was a tremendous moment.

This is another free church that is absolutely worth visiting if you're in the area.

It's completely free, you only have to go through a security scanner at the start and you're in.

Inside, there is an amazing ceiling and the main area is lined with 12 incredible statues and along the sides there are many frescoes.

Well worth fifteen minutes of your time!
