Lovely little church on the edge of the piazza del popolo. The interior is lovely but the main attraction are the mesmorising paintings by Caravaggio. St Peters crucifixion is fascinating. Need to put a euro in the box to light it but it is truly stunning.

On this amazing square there are Three churches, but Santa Maria del Popolo is Absolutely the Best One.
Two Caravaggio are Here... I suggest to See these and San Luigi dei Francesi church. Enjoy!

We checked this church out on our way to Piazza del Popolo. It's a beautiful church, very colorful painting. My mother and I enjoyed walking around inside.

This baroque church in the Piazza del Populo isn't exactly a hidden gem but you certainly wouldn't want to miss it. The two works by Caravaggio are stunning--
Crucifixion of St. Peter and the Conversion of St. Paul (Carracci's Assumption of the Virgin hangs between them in the chapel to the left of the altar). The chapel with the two Bernini sculptures were sadly under construction when I visited.

The purpose of my visit here was to see the two Caravaggio's that are within this little church. The church itself is just off the main Piazza del Popolo and is worth a visit. It has the usual chapels within it with their own paintings and frescoes which are equally as beautiful but it is the Crucifixion of St Peter and The Conversion Of St. Paul On The Road To Damascus that drew me in. They are just wonderful and no entrance fee except the euro required to light the little chapel.
