This was one of my favorite sites we visited. The history of the building is amazing. As you walk around the inside perimeter, there is so much to see. Don't miss the tribute to Victor Emmanuel II on the right hand side.

The Pantheon is one of my favourite treasures in Rome. ROMANS also love this place.
It is very unassuming at the same time amazing. You walk down a curved side street and it were as it this whole road was embracing The Pantheon. At the end of the cobble stone road you come upon a small circle with tables and chairs and umberellas - in front of those
stands The Pantheon. Upon entering one looks up to heaven and this amazing light embrasses
the whole place. Most other Piazzas are loud with people, music, and tourists.
However, Piazza della Rotonda, is very peaceful, tranquil and majestic. In 1972 my late husband and I took our sons to Rome and we stayed in the little hotel in front of the Pantheon. The children were enthralled and loved to play hide and seek. The glorious thing
about Rome is that children are NOT expected to be seen and NOT heard - they embraced,
accepted and even loved. There seems to be NO generation gap in Italy. In the early evening one can see couples walking arm in arm while the children walk with their grandparents to the Piazzetta for ice cream, and espresso. I have been to Rome every year
since 1979 until 2011, and I never stop discovering new things. It is one unending discovery
of joy.

Fantastic building! Loved the whole thing especially the whole in the roof where the sunlight shone down. Awesome! Loads of history inside and culture.

As one of the important historical sites in Rome, it is on the tourist trail and therefore can get very crowded. Photography allowed.

This place has been sitting here for two thousand years, and to see such a beautiful structure that has been around for so long was just one of the greatest experiences of my life. From the outside, particularly the back area of the building, it does look rather shabby, but the front, with the massive columns and the obelisk in the centre of the piazza is just incredible. But the inside is where it's at. This place is the testing place of the last 2 kings of Italy and has this massive dome, with an oculus in the centre. And it's just amazing to see. It's a must while you're in Rome!!
