This hotel is definitely not corporate. It has an identity of its own, and a rustic and elegant charm.
So you cannot compare. It is central to Piazza del Popolo and The Spanish steps, you can easily walk to The Vatican (we are in our 60,'s) and see many churches and sights on the way. As well as all the lovely shops. However staff are always on hand to call you a cab if you prefer, and there are plenty of them! Public transport buses and underground, close by.
However it is not on a busy street. Sort of tucked away. Plenty of eateries, even takeaway if you prefer. Wifi is free! Parking nort. But forget the car.
There are 5 floors, rooms are not huge, have high ceilings and shuttered windows. The walls are decorated in fabric, helps with the sound proofing and very elegant. Adequately furnished with old furniture, however there is plenty of drawer space, and hanging space and it is immaculately clean, even inside the drawers. Beds large and firm, sheets, pillows, towels clean and fresh. Bathroom had a bath and great shower, however difficult to control the spray sometimes and we did make a bit of a watery mess on the floor, (well one of us did) but learned to control that.
Breakfast, included, continental, but was a lovely experience in a small area off the bar, Prosecco with fresh juices, if you want to kick start your day, but the coffee was equally as good, and they know how to make tea. Cereal, fresh rolls, lots of fresh fruit , boiled eggs, cold cuts and cheese, pastries, and cakes. You will not be hungry.
Staff are wonderfully polite, and professional, and nothing is a problem, just ask!
It is worth visiting this hotel just for a ride in the amazing lift! Go up to the Terrace for a great view of the city, have a drink, you will like it!

We love this place and have stayed 3 times. Quiet location with a lot of nice restaurants in the area and a short walk to all sights. Great art deco interiors and a beautiful patio/garden where you can take coffee or breakkfast. Is now becomming increasingly trendy and the hotel bar is busy with the beautiful it crowd of Rome. Do NOT book room in the annex, the mainbuilding is where you want tonstay. We were upgradedmto a 2 room suite with balcony and huge bathroom - lovely

Room Tip: Standard rooms are quite smallm

Hotel is centrally located just footsteps from Piazza del Popolo.and close to the Flaminio transportation hub. Its side street location avoids the heavy tourist foot traffic and associated noise. Our deluxe room was large and charming.impeccably clean and with neat decorations from an era past .The bathroom was also quite large and completely modernized. The free room Wi-Fi ,mini fridge, and safe, all came in
handy .The hotel staff was pleasant and extremely helpful, and most accommodating to all our needs. The complimentary breakfast buffet was superb and the most complete I've seen,it also included cold cuts and rolls. We skipped lunch each day! We will continue to stay at this hotel in all future visits to Rome.

LOVE it from the minute I walked in. CONVENIENT location. Walking distance to everything. If you are looking for a quiet and quaint place this is it. I like it OLD school, boutique not loud and feel like I'm a local. GAY friendlily of couples and a family's with kids, what you call the NEW modern familia! Breakfast is worth buying. Try to include it with your package. Coffee every morning delicious, greet you every morning and if you get the lady at the front desk with glasses dark hair hazel eyes she really helps you and makes you feel at home. THIS is THE HEART of ROME!!! lot's of CHARM!

We (couple mid 40`s) stayed there for 5 nights March 2014.
When we choose that hotel some of our friends told us its too far from the center, Well it`s not.
The location in a quiet street few steps from "Piazza dl Poppolo" (the top end of the Coroso road) it is in a walking distance to all the Piazzas`s and also to the Vatican which is about 25-30 minutes walk within a beautiful river side walk or a shopping street beside it.
There is a bus station right next to the hotel called Maria Adelaide which has a lot of buses to main spots Piazza Venezia or the Sunday market "Porte Porteze" it has an electric sign says the time remaining to the bus arrival.
We also used Google maps which helped us with buses numbers, stations and the arrival time of them.
The room on the second room (standard) had a double bad, closet, drawers, LCD TV, mini bar and a bathroom with a small shower (I'm 6.1 & wide and it was just o.k.)
Breakfast was over what we expected from a European Hotel - buffet with breads, cheeses, salami, ham and variety of fruits and cakes. Coffee is served to the table juices are self served.
The reception was always available to us, and the stuff was help-full.
The roof garden is not amazing and need to be taken care of but enjoy the views and tranquility.
One downside was the renovation made that time and our room was right above it. but we woke up early anyway so it was't that bad.

The Locarno is a couple of blocks from the Spanish steps. There are numerous, good neighborhood restaurants that surround the hotel. The rooms are average, but the location is great. The hotel features a breakfast with one's room. The staff was most helpful the two times I stayed there.

Room Tip: They have rooms in the annex that are less expensive.

We spent 5 fantastic days in this beautiful hotel just behind piazza del Popolo in the heart of Rome, walking distance from the subway and from several museums and touristic attractions. Clean, amazing art nouveau furniture and really kind, professional staff. The strong point is morning breakfast: a rich variety of fresh fruits, homemade cakes, excellent expresso coffee and local cheese and ham. We will be glad to come back to this hotel!
