We had four nights in the Hotel Locarno. My kids fell in love with the tiny elevator and there is no question that the hotel is in a great location. The rooftop bar is a gem and I would highly recommend a nightcap up there. The breakfast buffet is fantastic (the best we had in Italy). Pillows are unfortunately as hard as a rock and the beds themselves are not very comfortable. Staff are quite helpful.

Located next to Piazza del Popolo and via del Corso. Easy to reach. Quiete area. Clean and well cared. Rooms too small. Price too high although in the average for its category, but this is a problem with hotel prices in Rome.

This is a delight of hotel. I had reserved this hotel for one night in the beginning. Due to flight mishaps, I needed to add an additional night. With the hotel booking company I used there was a mishap. I was able to contact the hotel directly and they worked with me and were able to add an additional night. The hotel is quiet and serene although is it near the busy Piazza del Popolo. There is an old fashioned elevator, which only adds to it's charm. For breakfast there is a lovely spread of patries, meats and beverages served off the bar. If you need a taxi, they have one for you within minutes. The staff is delightful and willing to help at a moments notice. Don't worry if you don't speak Italian, they are all fluent in English.

Stayed for 5 nights in the middle of the summer last year. The hotel is in a lovely quiet area right next to Piazza Del Popolo. When you step inside, the decoration and furniture is very classy and you feel like you're in a 5 star hotel. The reception staff were very helpful and gave us a map of the city. We were brought to our room which was in fact, not in the main building as the hotel. We stayed in a building opposite the main one, but were still able to avail of facilities in both. Our room was on the ground floor, spacious and had air conditioning which was a luxury after being in the hot Italian sunshine all morning. The bed was a regular double and was very comfy. There was a large wooden wardrobe, desk and a stocked minibar. The bathroom was medium sized but more like a shower room with toilet and sink. We also had a door which opened out to a tiny courtyard containing some plants. This was great for letting in more air, however be careful leaving it open as you can overhear people in other rooms so they can likely hear you too.

We went for a couple of drinks in the main bar of the hotel. We ordered two bottled soft drinks and were a bit shocked at the high price. They did provide us with some free food though (appetizers). There is a street-level courtyard beside the bar to sit in and have your food/drink. Also, take the lift up to the top of the building and you will find a rooftop restaurant. We didnt eat here but the view was great and I can only imagine how romantic it is at sunset.

Room Tip: We stayed in the building opposite the main hotel. I think its the 'sister' of the main hote...

This was the second time I stayed at this well-located small hotel, a couple of blocks from the Piazza del Popolo. The room was very clean and well-appointed, although on the small side. The breakfast was ample with a wide selection. Best of all, the hotel staff were extremely helpful, both before and during our stay. If I go to Rome again, I'll stay here again.

My daughter and I stayed at the Hotel Locarno for 3 nights in May. The front desk staff is warm and welcoming and very helpful. Especially Barbara - who helped us with all our tours (and many changes) and dinner reservations and airport pick up. Hotel is in a terrific location and the rooftop bar is a gem. We spent part of an afternoon relaxing on the sofas after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel is "old world Rome" so if you are wanting a new, modern place to stay this is not for you. But if you want a clean, charming, and lovely place to experience Rome, I recommend the Hotel Locarno. The room was small but nicely decorated and very quiet. Will definitely be back.

My mom and I stayed here for four nights in October and both loved it. We had a big room in the hotel's second building - it was big with lots of windows and two balconies. The bathroom was admittedly a bit old fashioned (a shower head in a tub, with no shower curtain) but this didn't bother either of us - however if modern bathroom conveniences are very important to you, I wouldn't recommend this hotel!
Otherwise, it was perfect. Within walking distance of the Piazza del Popolo, the Spanish Steps, and the wonderful via Margutta, but still very quiet.
The hotel also has a beautiful rooftop terrace as well as an outdoor dining/cocktail area on the first floor that we really enjoyed. Drinks are expensive (as is everything in Rome) but you do get snacks on the side!

Room Tip: We loved our room in the separate building on the side street! We were told it was quieter than the...
